When Bella Swan decides to move in with her dad in the small and rainy town of Forks, she expects life to be boring and uneventful. However, when she meets the dark and mysterious Edward Cullen, her world becomes more eventful than she could ever have imagined.

At first, Edward seems to dislike Bella, doesn't talk to her and tries to avoid her. But when he saves her from a car accident in a way that no normal human being could, Bella suspects that he's not all he makes out to be. But when she finds out he's a vampire, this doesn't make her fear him or want to stay away from him like it should, but instead makes her even more attracted to him. Edward introduces Bella to the rest of his vampire family who, unlike normal vampires, do not drink human blood, however much they lust after it. The young couple begin a whirlwind romance - so wrong but yet so right - with Edward having to tread very carefully to ensure he doesn't end up drinking Bella's blood. But when a gang of vampires turn up in their town and smell the scent of human blood in the Cullen vampire clan, they immediately set their sights on Bella.

After reading the book by Stephenie Meyer, which I absolutely loved, I was looking forward to the film so much and I wasn't at all disappointed. Although not quite as good as the book (it never really is), the film was very close and didn't really differ from the book at all. It was just as gripping and exciting and I found myself attracted to the character of Edward just as I had in the book. Not because I found him nice looking, but because of his dark and mysterious personality and his actual character which somehow pulled me towards him in the same way that the character of Bella is pulled towards him.

Robert Pattinson is the perfect actor to play the role of Edward, with his pale skin, dark hair and eyes and slightly gothic demeanour. He plays his role perfectly with a mixture of love for Bella, lust for her blood and shame at being what he is. Kristen Stewart is also a brilliant actress for the role of Bella, being a pretty girl but yet fairly plain and not standing out from the crowd. She plays her role as a sensible and polite young girl yet her senses are all shot out the window as soon as she is with Edward.

I'm a huge fan of fantasy films such as Harry Potter and the likes, but am not usually keen on vampire type fantasy as I find they're usually portrayed in a silly and unrealistic way. However, this film managed to portray the vampires in a life-like and very realistic way which made you feel that actually these vampires could be real and walking around in this world. There was only one silly part which was where Edward was running through the woods at his super speeds and it showed his legs moving at about 100 miles an hour which did look a little fake. Apart from that though, there was no other parts which were silly or looked unreal which is part of the reason I found this film so enjoyable.

Many people think that the Twilight series is aimed at youngsters because of the fantasy genre and because the main characters are mostly teenagers. However, I really wouldn't say it is suited to youngsters at all. This is a story and film that anyone can enjoy, with a passionate romance involved and it is quite a dark film which could be a little scary for some youngsters, hence the 12 certificate rating. My husband, who usually doesn't enjoy films like this at all, surprised us both by thoroughly enjoying it.

Twilight is a brilliant fantasy romance film which I recommend without a doubt to anyone and everyone. This is one of my favourite films of all time!

Running time: 122 minutes
Certificate rating: 12
Director: Catherine Hardwicke

Summary: I'm waiting in anticipation for the next film in the Twilight series!
