Advantages: If you love the books this prolongs your contact with Edward!

Disadvantages: Rob Pattinson is not everyone's Edward, you have to overlook it, he is good!

I loved the book so decided to try out the film.

It is a good movie, but I was quite dissappointed. Robert Pattinson is definately not my Edward. In the book you have the luxuary of imagining all of the characters exactly as you would want them. But with the film, the characters are imposed upon you. In the end I ded like Robert Pattinson as Edward but it took me a while to get used to him.

I think the budget for this film was quite low and perhaps the next in the series will be better.

The film does stay as true to the book as possible. It is important to remember that the movie only has 117mins to fit in over 300pages worth of the book's story. So it is inevitable that there are things missing or some things changed slightly.

The Cullens are excellent. Carlisle has been cast perfectly. Alice is also wonderful. I am unconvinced by Esme however. Jasper is perhaps the most well cast Cullen. He instantly brings tension to the screen, as if he really is fighting the urge to drink human blood.

Kristen Stewart as Bella is good, but not what I expected. In my mind Bella was stubborn, but softer somehow. Kristen Stewart is slighlty intimidating at times, but also shows Bella's strength and conviction well.

The film does cover the main points of the book and if you loved the books, of course you should watch the film. If, on the otherhand you have watched the film and not read the book, I highly recommend it. The book evokes the feelings of tension and excitement and adrenaline of a new and dangerous relationship so well. The film does fall down in this area. But overall it is watchable and more enjoyable the second or third time when you know what to expect.

Summary: As true to the book as it could have been.
