Disadvantages: None

Before I get into this review I'd just like to point out that I had not read any of the books from the Twilight series before watching this film, and I still haven't. This review is thus coming from someone who has no preconceptions about what the film should have been like, whether it lived up to it's expectations and so on...

So, I came about to watching this film a week or so ago by complete chance. It wasn't planned but was a convenient movie to watch at the time. I wasn't even sure what it was supposed to be about to be honest as the hype surrounding all these books has kind of just gone right by me.

I did however know that it was a fairly famous title and that the film was based on a book. I also knew it would have something to do with vampires or werewolves but I had no idea who was which in terms of characters.

So, like I said the movie is based on a book written by Stephenie Meyer. Twilight is actually the first story in a series of 4 books I believe, and this movie, I am guessing will have sequels to follow on from it which will also be based on the remaining books in the series, kind of like Harry Potter.

The main characters in this movie are Bella and Edward. At the start of the movie, Bella is shown to be moving town to go and live with her father, as her mum has just fallen in love with someone new. Bella does move, somewhat reluctantly and it is clear she is not a very happy soul.

New in town, she has to start a new school and make new friends. Bella is a quiet character, but manages to quickly make friends with a nice group of kids at school. Through them she learns about some of the other kids at school. One guy in particular catches her eye and he goes by the name of Edward Cullen. She is completely mesmerised by him from the first look, but he seems to have some sort of problem with her. In fact he doesn't seem to have any friends. He is however intensely good-looking and so Bella struggles to get her mind off him. It's not a simple love-story however as there is so much more to Edward than meets the eye. I think anyone reading this knows that Edward is in fact a vampire, so I hope I have not spoilt that for anyone. How Bella and Edward get along for the remainder of the movie however, I will not reveal as I don't want to give too much away.

So, what did I think? I actually really enjoyed the movie. I know a lot of people have slated the film somewhat because they think it didn't live up to the book, but I haven't read the book. I thought the choice of actors to play Bella and Edward were excellent. Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, displayed excellently intense teenage feelings of lust and fascination with Edward. Edward, on the other hand, played by Robert Pattinson, really was as gorgeous as I keep hearing everyone say he is! It's funny, even before I had watched the movie I kept hearing so much in the media about how gorgeous this guy is, and I have to agree! And of course the best thing was that he could act too!

All in all this was a great movie. It is aimed at teens, but as a fully grown adult, I can say that I really enjoyed it.

The movie was 122 minutes long and is rated 12A for some violence and a scene of sensuality.

Summary: Watch it!
