Advantages: a good story

Disadvantages: a lot of soulful staring where you needed to fill in the gaps

Having finally given in to peer pressure to read the books, I got hooked. Not so much in the I'm crazy-obsessed about it all hooked, but I really enjoyed each book and was eager to read the next one each time I finished.

I saw the film a few days after finishing the first book.
Very well cast main characters (though Charlie was very different to how I imagined him!) made this movie work. Watching it the first time, I felt that there was a lot of looking into each other's eyes and not taking moments, and one was expected to fill the silence of these looks with all of the background that you got from reading the book. I'm not sure my husband enjoyed the film as much having not read it first. Though I'm picky about things like that with most film adaptations so maybe it's just me.

Having watched it again the other night I found it a bit more enjoyable than the first time as some of the book details have now faded from my memory. I am looking forward to New Moon coming out in the cinema, and would still recommend this film to anyone, but encourage you to read the book first!

Summary: a good movie but read the book first so you know what's going on!
