Twilight fever truly hit everywhere last year and it is has continued throughout 2009 because the New Moon movie is coming out. Now Twilight was my favourite film of last year and when I first read the book I though there is no way a film can measure up. What I found was that the main girl character is slightly annoying but if you can get past that then this film is a fun ride and one you should definitely take if you like vampire things. Here is why.

Ok the story goes like this. Bella is a moody teenage girl who is sent to live with her father in the very rainy town of Forks. While she is there she does not imagine she will meet somebody as instantly alluring as Edward. Edward ignores her and treats her badly at first and she has no idea why. What she doesn't know is that Edward has a secret and he cannot be near her as a consequence but he still has a need to protect her. What follows is in essence a love story including vampires.

The story is fabulous and the film follows a path and sticks to it. It hooks you in from the very start and will keep you watching it even if you are not enjoying it. I know that is a strange thing to say but a couple of my friends hated the movie but even they admitted they couldn't take their eyes off the screen and needed to see what happened so they couldn't have hated it that much. The story may be quite formulaic but the addition of vampires allows the love story to build up tension which is what you need from any film that tries to portray love.

There are a few special effects in this film but not many. The ones they have are very good indeed and there are no bad moments where things look silly. It helps that the vampires in this film are just like humans so you have no dodgy teeth or completely pure white make up. The only thing you do have is that their eyes change colour but thanks to the wonder of contacts it looks great.

So the story is great and the effects are great and so what about the characters and actors as they make the movie?

Well character wise and they are great. Bella is slightly annoying as the main human girl character and this is because she is just so moody. I sit there and think come on, even the vampires have a bit about them and you just cant smile and have a monotone voice. The actual character is ok and I know that it is very close to the book so you expect her to be a little annoying. Kristen Stewart who plays her is great and perfect for the role so I have nothing bad to say about her.

Now the Edward character is fantastic and if you are not completely in love with Edward Cullen after watching this movie then it's madness. His true pure feelings for Bella are just amazing and I said to my husband after the movie 'you should think of me like that'. His response was well if I was a vampire I would so touché. Robert Pattinson is so delectable and talented that he brings Edward's pure beauty to the screen and he is a loveable character. A lot less moody than Bella which is what you need from the film. Fantastic!!!

Every other character is fine and I particularly like Alice who is just so nice and Rosalie who is a bit of a nasty person but only due to sarcasm. No bad acting though as everybody is well cast so that makes the film even more enjoyable.

The film lasts for around 2 hours and this is perfect as it goes by so quickly. Now my DVD is only the 1 disc edition so I have no special features to tell you about and you can buy it for about a fiver at the moment which is great value. You can buy a 2 disc edition for about £8 which has a lot of special features so if I buy this one I will update to let you know what they are all about.

In conclusion I think that this film is amazing. It is a love story with a twist and also has a little action in it. Even my friend who hates anything to do with vampires liked this and my husband loved it too. It has a great story and the gorgeous Robert Pattinson so is all good to me. I cant wait to see the next chapter New Moon in a couple of months. I think you will like Twilight if you are open to everlasting love.
