Advantages: true to the book

Disadvantages: right length for a feature but doesn't include some sections of the novel it is based on

A couple of friends reccommended that I read the book which this film is named after, and I reluctantly agreed, firm in my opinion that vampires and fantasy were a load of rubbish. However I was surprised to find myself utterly enthralled by the book and quickly rattled through the next 3 additions to the series.
Now, as a teenage girl, I am a prime example of the target market for Twilight, and I must admit I was one of those who queued up at the cinema to see the film on the first day it was released. Although I am a huge fan of the book, I didn't harbour high expectations for the film; I have never seen a film based on a book that truly respresented the genius of the writing.
But I found myself impressed by the film and its ability to capture the genuine atmosphere and sense of character presented by its original written counterpart. There were sections which I felt could have been much more true to the book, and some things in the book were completely skipped over. I also felt that the end was perhaps a little disppointing, however it presented a good cliffhanger to make the non-readers watch the second installment.
However, overall I felt that Twilight was thoroughly enjoyable, and I look forward to the release of the sequel film, New Moon, this year.
