Premium Review Two Lovers (DVD): Love on the double (255 words)

Rating:

Two Lovers is a good romantic drama with some quality performances and is only really spolit by a plot that is a little slow moving in places which is a shame as it had thepotentail to be a really good film. One of the strengths is the strong cast which features Joaqin Pheonix, Gwyneth Paltrow and Vinessa Shaw. Pheonix plays Leonard who despite being middle aged still lives with his parents after the break up of a long term relationship and his life is at a rather low point when the film opens. Premium Review Two lovers-Certainly worth a watch (306 words)

Rating:

Two Lovers-directed and co-written by James Gray(We own the night) stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Joaquin Phoenix and Vinessa Shaw. I was anticipating this film, partly because it looked like a realistic romantic drama. Leonard(Phoenix) is a middle aged guy living with his parents and is slightly lost in his life(partly because of the breakup with his long term girlfriend).Since he stays by himself all day,his parents want him to more of a family friend's daughter.Things get thicker when Leonard meets Michelle(Paltrow),who has recently moved to a flat in the same building. The film essentially focusses on his feelings for both women and how their life ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

(Film review only) Here's a bit of a sleeper that was surprisingly well done. Joaquin Phoenix plays Leonard Kraditor, a bi-polar young man whose fiancé left when they found out that both carried the gene for Tay - Sachs disease. Leonard is now living with his parents (Isabella Rossellini and Israeli comedian, Moni Moshonov), and gets set up with the Jewish, quiet, steady and single Sandra Cohen (Vinessa Shaw). Sandra is the daughter of the man who Leonard's father is brokering a business merger with (nothing fancy, just Dry Cleaning). Just after Sandra and Leonard establish that this might be something worth looking into, Leonard meets, and is immediately ...  Read the complete review
