Milla Jovovich has had success in starring in the film adaptation of the computer game Resident Evil, and here she tries her hand at a comic book adaptation in Ultraviolet. The Plot Set late in the 21st Century, the world has been exposed to a virus which, if it comes into contact with humans will turn them into Hemophages, vampirical beings who appear like humans but who are faster, stronger and more agile, but who are also far more dangerous and are considered abominations. Ultraviolet is a woman caught in the crossfire, affected by the virus but not controlled by it. She finds herself protecting a boy who has been marked for death by the ... Read the complete review

I have to say that I was seriously disappointed by this film and regard it to be truly awful. Seriously awful The premise of the film is that, in the late 21st Century, a blood borne infectious disease known as hemoglophagia and those infected are to all intents and purposes turned into Vampires. The remaining "humans" outcaste the Hemophages and a war is going on between the two. The film follows, Milla Jovovich's character, Violet, a young woman who was infected with hemophagia, in the process losing both her husband and her unborn child. Violet is now an emotionally dead killing machine, a member of an underground resistance movement of hemophages ... Read the complete review

Those of you that have read some of my other reviews may have seen my opinion of the woeful ‘Aeon Flux’. Afterwards you must have cried, ‘Surely this is the worst sci fi film to be released this year?’ Well I am afraid that is not the case as I welcome a new contender for worst film of all time – ‘Ultraviolet’. In the world of ‘Ultraviolet’ those nasty scientists have been at it again and have created a new disease that has created a race of Haemoglobes (or futuristic vampires to you and me). Years later and society live in fear of the vampires and a sinister political group has been formed to wipe them out. We follow Violet (Milla Jovovich), a Vampire who ... Read the complete review

Ultraviolet follows Aeon Flux into the world of sci-fi based action adventure movies where the lead is a super fit woman in tight fitting clothes. It also follows it into the ‘this is total crap’ section of the films I have seen this year. If you thought Aeon was bad then you will be astounded to discover that yes this is actually even worse. It is a complete and utter disaster from start to finish, full of plot holes and unexplained circumstances so large that the titanic could sail through them with no danger of scraping its sides and sinking! It also suffers from the bane of all action films these days, an over reliance on CGI (computer generated images) ... Read the complete review

OH MY GOSH! This has to be the worst film I have watched this year. I didn't have high hopes as Milla Jovovich has a tendancy to do high CGI low plot films (the 5th element being the only exception) but I have a soft spot for vampire movies so I gave it a shot. So the story goes that people are getting infected and turning into Heomo-whatnots (Vampires to you and me) and they are being wiped out. Cue big fight scene of a group of vamps being destroyed through the medium of lovely camera work and impressive stunt work. Violet is on a secret mission to get a thing that will be their salvation, or undoing - I was never clear on that bit. Anyway, the plot is ... Read the complete review
