Advantages: two great stars in one film
Disadvantages: mobiles in cinemas the film has none in my point of view.
Don't judge a book by its cover is what I think they say. Now with the youths today for one its difficult to even enjoy the best films out, without somebody answering their mobile at the back of the screen or having a good gossip with their friends. But I stayed focused in this film. Trailers and posters of the film really didn’t give that much away and so this was the best kind of film for me something you know nothing about from the start. The Bold beginning with the words of comic books surrounded by the silence of the screen. The story first tells about the beginning of Samuel L Jackson who plays Elijah a small black boy at the beginning that suffers from a bone disease they makes his bones more brittle and weak then a normal persons. The beginning scene shows how as a baby, at birth both his arms and legs were broken, as him became a teenager because of his inability to play like most other children he would hide away. Then his mother decides to temp the boy into the opening with comic books. His obsession must have grown and he came to believe that he was at one end of a spectrum, and somebody out there was at the other end. This is where Bruce enters on a train ride; these scenes clearly show that David is having problems with marriage. As he attempts to chat up a women that takes up a seat by him, after failing to charm the lady he drifts into a type of subconscious, after which he wakes to find himself in a hospital. Where he later discovers that he is the sole survivor of a terrible train crash, the killer of 100's of people. After encountering this rather traumatic event later he finds a letter on his car, which leads him back to Elijah who now owns an art gallery full of famous drawings of characters. After explaining his ideas to David, which goes along the lines of David, is some kind a superhuman. That has the potential to become a 'super hero', with bones that are unbreakable and flesh that is untearab
le. David is immune to all types of illness, he has never been ill in his life. The story continues where by David foresees a vision of a man carrying a silver gun with a black handle, and does not see the weapon, Elijah follows the man and it is true. But not without trouble in the process Elijah takes a bad fall a does a lot of damage to himself, it is here where he meets the wife of David after explaining his theories to her, the family decide that they do not want to see Elijah again. With Elijah out the way David tries to get back to normal it is only when he realises that he can lift enormous weights for a man of his size does he then return to Elijah. They then discover like most superheroes have weaknesses David weakness lies with water, he has a fear of water since when he nearly died as a child drowning. They set a plan and David is sent out to the streets to foresee visions from people's lives to find the people that he needs to help. After touching a cleaner he visualises how this man has killed the farther of a household a follows him back. He frees the children. Nearly drowns while getting trapped underwater, thank god he freed the children first as they help save him, he then goes about killing the murderer and discovering that the murderer has killed the mother as well probably after raping her. Through his secret identity he is published as a hero in the paper. Then comes the last part of the film. David and Elijah shake hands, David has the ability to visualise how he was found. How Elijah caused accidents all over the US trying to find him the one person that is exactly the opposite to him, his arch enemy, in his insane last words of the film he calls himself Mr Glass. Please if anybody out there loved sixth sense don’t go and see this film for that. Watch it because it’s a new film a new tangent. On something I doubt anybody has ever thought about. Classic acting by both Bruce Willis and Samuel
L Jackson. And please turn your mobiles off when you go to see a film!

- 22/01/01 Firstly, well done for the writing skills. Keep it up! But one thing that i have to mention. I have seen the film 'Unbreakable' so it doesn't matter that much to me. But for anybody that hasnt seen film, uve just given the whole story away, including the twist! Someone maybe thinking of going to see the film, and thought of reading this first just to see whetjer it was any good, but you have spoilt it for them! Sorry to complain, its a good review but think a bit next time! |
