Advantages: Strong cast and production team...

Disadvantages: ... that disappoint!

Please, save yourself some time and money, DON'T GO AND SEE THIS FILM!

I consider myself fairly even minded and fair (ish) but not for a long time have I left the cinema feeling I'd been ripped-off.
Unbreakable left me feeling like that.

I couldn't believe I'd paid to go and see it.
Never has a film promised so much and delivered so little.

The same director as the popular 'Sixth Sense', Samuel L Jackson, who was marvelous in 'A Time to Kill' and of course 'Pulp Fiction' and old Bruce Willis himself, not my favourite actor, but always reliable for good box-office.

Without wanting to give too much away: the story centres on the lives of Jackson and Willis. Jackson as the breakable, Willis the Unbreakable of the title. Jackson has some form of brittle bone disease and is very succeptible to injury, whereas Willis is the opposite.... for want of a better word, Unbreakable!

The story rolls on (at unnecessarily length) with Jackson trying to convince Willis of his 'powers' and how to use them and ol' Bruce, disbelieving, is not too keen on the idea.

Willis does his stock 'acting', long periods of moody silence, with lots of nodding/head shaking and Jackson plays his usual angry, shouting role.

I have no problem "suspending disbelief" for films, but this pushed the limits. Of course there are people out there with such illnesses and such immense luck, karma, call it what you will, but the way it's played out in this film is laughable.

And the ending.... good lord, I was in stitches, which were only increased when captions appeared on the screen, updating where the characters were now, documentary style... like it was a true story! Please.

In my opinion the movie-makers are tying this one up for an Unbreakable 2. The film centres far too long on Willis' and Jackson's moralistic struggle and not enough on
what Bruce can do with his 'powers' once he decides to, which would have been infinitely more entertaining.

Unbreakable 2 out in cinemas Summer 2002, you heard it here first.... and I'd avoid that one too!

Like I said in my opinion, I have no problem buying into fantasy in films... Star Wars, utter fantasy, but superb. This film was just utter dross though! It couldn't decide. One minute it was 'fantastical' then it had the documentary style ending!

this film was a fantasy and if you didn't buy into it and expected real life then you wouldn't like the film.
