John Candy stars in this funny family film playing the part of Uncle Buck. He is a fun loving bachelor who doesn't like hard work and is forever getting nagged by his girlfriend to get himself a job. Buck receives a phone call late one night from his brother who needs his help. His father in law has had a heart attack and he and his wife have got to go but they need Buck to come and watch their 3 children for them. Their usual babysitter is unavailable and Buck agrees to help. He turns up dressed as his usual scruffy self in his rust bucket car and he soon makes his presence felt. The children do not know what to make of him at first, the youngest ... Read the complete review

Uncle Buck is one of those films that is repeated on TV regularly, but still one I enjoy no matter how many times I have seen it. ~The Story~ Bob and Cindy Russell (Played by Garrett M. Brown and Elaine Bromka) have recently moved from Indianapolis to Chicago with their three kids, when one night they receive a phone call to say that Cindy's father has had a heart attack. Not really knowing many people in the area, the couple struggle to find someone to babysit their children, 15 year old Tia (Jean Kelly), 8 year old Miles (Macaulay Culkin) and 6 year old Maizy (Gaby Hoffman). Bob suggests his brother Buck, but Cindy point blank refuses as she ... Read the complete review

Uncle Buck is another of those movies that normally gets rolled out at xmas time and this year was no different with it again appearing on TV, mind you these days there are so many channels that the odds must be pretty low in the first place. John Candy stars in this lovely little comedy as the hapless Uncle Buck who is a larger than life waster of epic proportions, well he is fat anyway and he has arrived to babysit his brothers children which includes Macaulay Culkin within the brood. There is a feel good theme to this film as the children win over the rather lost character of Buck however before this rather sickly sweet ending there is some great ... Read the complete review

This timeless classic of comedy hails from 1989, and stars John Candy as Uncle Buck, an overweight lazy slob who comes to babysit for his brother's kids and kicks up quite a storm. This is an excellent movie, a real feel good comedy that packs a message in there too. It's classic John Candy stuff, in that it is very very funny, but also has a heartwarming side to it too. In terms of plot, it's all the predictable stuff about an uncivilised bachelor looking after kids. For example, he takes them to a smoky bowling alley which is certainly not child friendly. Again predictable is the way the kids ultimately win him over and teach him a lesson about ... Read the complete review

**The Plot** One night Cindy Russell gets a phone call that her father is seriously ill after having a heart attack in Indianapolis, and so makes the decision with her husband, Bob that they need to go and be with him. Unfortunately Bob and Cindy have three children, Tia who is 15 years old, Miles who is 8 years old and 6 year old Maizy, who they need to find a baby sitter for. Having rung around people that they know they come to the conclusion that Buck, Bob's brother, is the only person they have left to ask. Cindy really isn't keen on the idea as he has a reputation for being unreliable, but with no-one else to turn to, she agrees. Tia overhears ... Read the complete review
