This is quite a thoughtful film that explores the psychological effects of adultery, as seen through the eyes of a bored woman who doesn't realise the mental turmoil she will put herself through, and how willpower and selfishness come into play. It starts off showing Connie Sumner (Diane Lane) in a relatively happy light, with her family, including husband Ed (Richard Gere). However, one day, a chance encounter leads to her having a quick fling with the sensual and artistic Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez). However, temptation leads her to go back, and filled with confusing emotions warring with each other inside her head, she slowly, but surely, sinks lower as ... Read the complete review

Unfaithful turned out to be a fairly average movie, not the worst I have ever seen but a long way from the best, it is a drama / thriller about a womans' infidelity with a stranger who she becomes obsessed with and the impact it has on her marriage and the safety of her family. Unfaithful" I have to say is the worst movie I've ever seen with some of the most popular America actors around Richard Gere and Diane Lane, with a brief hilarious cameo by Chad Lowe. How is it awful? Let me count the ways. The acting was bad, the reactions from the characters in certain situations is laughable, I saw the ending a mile away, and when I showed the movie to my friends, they nearly laughed to death, and this was not a comedy. Adrian Lyne skewers his past success with movies like 'Fatal Attraction' with this one. Connie Sumner (Diane Lane) is a woman who has an affair with another man named Paul Marter (Olivier ... I saw this film on the telly the other night and was very impressed with how good it was! It tells the story of a typical American couple (Diane Lane and Richard Gere) who live a typical small american home (I am being sarcastic here!) and she meets up with a handsome young man and begins an affair with him, naturaly and predictably, he finds out and there are disastrous consequences all round. This film is very intense and the attraction between Diane Lane and Olivier Martinez in this is played brilliantly, it is very convincing. It does keep you on the edge of your seat all the way through and Richard Gere plays the broken husband ... Read the complete review

This is a film i absolutely adore. I first saw this film back in 2002 when it first aired. Diane Lane and Richard Gere portray a typical American couple living in the surburbs brilliantly. Their marriage seems to lose it's spark when Connie Sumner (Played by Diane) has an adulterous affair with the young, French heart-throb Paul Martel, played by the gorgeous Olivier Martinez. It all starts with a journey into Manhattan, when caught in a windstorm, Connie bumps into a handsome Booker-seller and falls to her knees - Literally! After refusing a driving Taxi going by, she accepts the offer of Paul Martel to patch herself up - and this is where they ... Read the complete review
