Up is a 2009 animation Disney film, released in both 2-D and 3-D. It is Pixar's first Disney 3-D animation release and comes with mini feature film Partly Cloudy.
*Synopsis*
Up centers around the life and adventure of Carl Fredriksen, a now grumpy old man still filled with grief after his beloved wife Ellie died, and an overeager Wilderness Explorer Russel who is on his own mission to win his final 'Help the Elderly' badge.
It had always been his wife's dream to live and build their dream house on the top of Paradise Falls in South America but as Carl and Ellie grow up and grow old together, unable to have children, different financial obligations arise (which every adult or teenager over the age of 18 will relate too) each pushing their dream adventure aside.
But when pencil-pushing suits try to muscle Carl out of his house and into the Shady Oaks retirement home it's the final straw. But as he sails away, house and all, lifted by tens of thousands of balloons a suprise companion called Russell was innocently thrown into the adventure. How will grumpy Carl fair against the excitable Russell? Will Carl ever fulfill his and his wife's lifelong ambition to see Paradise Falls? And who are Dug and Kevin?
*My Opinon*
I love Disney films. End of. I can't really think of a single Disney animation that I don't like. Especially not a Pixar combination either. Disney and Pixar have to be the most consistantly good film makers of the past century, they really are that good.
Up is no exception. In fact dare I say it, it even raises the bar of animation. Disney films has always pulled at your heartsrings and this film is the perfect example. We see Carl and Ellie grow up, get married, feel their sorrow at not being able to have children, see them grow old and feels Carl's grief at his wife's death. Then Disney soesn't leave it to the lead to carry the film. No, with fantastic characters such as Russell, Dug and Kevin amongst others light up the screen and clearly make this film one to watch for both children and adults alike.
