Advantages: Decent enough film

Disadvantages: Not a sequel to the first movie!

The reason I ask a seemingly silly question is due to the fact that this film in all honesty has very little to do with the original movie.
While I don't want to give too much away from this film, they really are very few similarities between this and the original movie. Only the basis of murders surrounding urban legends ties this film to the original, and a single character from the first movie.

This film is set around a group of film students, one of which wishes to make a movie inspired by the campus security guard (here is where the only time in to the first movie occurs) in a attempt to win a prestigious award for filmmaking at alpine university. As one by one the students start to vanish, it soon becomes clear that the murders are all based around a single film student and the tie in with the curb and legend. Starring Jennifer Morrison (also from Stir or Echo's) and a number of other high profile actors, including the very funny Anthony Anderson (Recently starring alongside Jim Corey in me, myself and Irene) make this a worthy and very talented cast indeed.
Well in its own right, this is a very good film, to make this the sequel to the original urban legend movie is something of a cheek in my opinion, as [as I have already said] there is very little that remotely ties this movie to its predecessor.

However, this is not to say its not a good film, coming on a decent enough DVD, although given the high standard of region 1 releases over the past 6 months, this is another slight let-down.
The picture quality is actually very good, coming in a nice anamorphic widescreen, that never lets the movie down. On the audio side of things, there is a decent enough Dolby Digital sound track, but the extras features is where the let down does happen. Extras come in the form of

· Commentary,
· Deleted Scenes,
· Gag Reel (which is rubbish to be honest),
· Featurette (another poor extra)
· Trailers
· T
alent files
· Production notes

While the list doesn’t sound that poor, they are actually of pretty poor quality, and while I have not yet listened to the directors commentary, the other extras are not really worthy of any special praise at all.

All the above said, I would still recommend this as a worthwhile purchase, especially for those who like me love the genre and enjoyed the first movie (not that it has much to do with it as I have already said!)

A good, but certainly not great movie!
