 ... that may want revenge. Que. lots of silly chases, lots of screaming and scares that may make you jump if your a scaredy cat. If you have not heard of any of the cast, you can tell by the subject matter the girls must be attractive to be the object of some sicko's desire on valentines day. Bond girl Denise Richards (Paige) plays the part I have often seen her do before in 'The Wild Things' and 'Drop Dead Gorgeous', she pulls of the pouting temptress with such perfection that you actually have to consider if she is rea...more

Premium Review Valentine (DVD): Valentine Slasher (755 words)
by - written on 08/12/09 (Very useful, 22 readings)
Rating:

~~~Valentine~~~ When you're young, beautiful and popular valentines day must be your favourite time of the year. Unlike a nerdy teenage boy who was ridiculed at school when the said girls taunted him for asking for a dance ... Years later when the cards start to pile up neither girl expects to find a cruel twisted valentines day card, however valentine day for someone else has a totally different meaning. ~The cast: Mary Shelton ~ Kate Jessica Capshaw ~ Dorothy Denise Richards ~ Paige Jessica Cauffiel ~ Lily Katherine Heigl ~ Shelley David Boreanaz ~ Adam Johnny Whitworth ~ Max Adam ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review "Will you dance with me?" (1070 words)
Rating:
I almost killed myself after watching the first ten minutes of this film. I couldn't believe I'd got my sister to steal a schlock slasher horror film from her work. There is nothing more boring than yet another film where a guy in all black with a mask and a knife goes around killing young, attractive women (and the odd man). Luckily I was too lazy to get up, and the film improved massively as it went on. David Boreanaz leads a cast of mostly TV stars in a surprisingly intelligent & twisted film. Denise Richards is the ringleader of a group of girlfriends who, like most Americans, have a vastly inflated self-image and play with men like they are ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review Valentine (DVD): Stuck in a Moment (696 words)
by - written on 20/10/01 (Very useful, 67 readings)
Rating:
If I am being honest I expected very little from “Valentine”. It had been slated by most of the people I had spoken to and appeared to be yet another film trying to ride the coattails of the Scream series. I was pleasantly surprised in some respects but I can see why other people would have been disappointed. The film opens at a high school dance where an unpopular nerdy character is approaching the best looking girls in his class to dance with him. He is subjected to humiliating refusals and ends up being attacked at the end of the opening scene which was fairly similar to “Carrie”. The film picks up the story a few years in ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review A Contender For Worst Movie Of 2001 (860 words)
by - written on 01/10/01 (Very useful, 37 readings)
Rating:
Of course, what the world needs right now is another slasher movie. We haven't had nearly enough since Halloween first hit the screens over 20 years ago. Of course recent movies such as Scream and I Know What you Did Last Summer, have totally revived the horror genre which has been feeling a little stale before then. Thank God for movies like these. Of course I am being sarcastic as I think both I, and everyone else, is pretty much sick of this type of rubbish - especially when it consists of cheap cash-ins on the glories of other more talented directors, and scriptwriters and offers nothing new and basically stinks from start to finish. We are basically ...  Read the complete review
Premium Review Valentine (DVD): too many breasts, too few brains (484 words)
by - written on 10/06/01 (Very useful, 172 readings)
There's not much to be said about the horror genre. Okay, so it was fun in the '70s and '80s, but then it died down (thank God!). But then along came "Scream," which totally revolutionized the entire genre. And then along came the various sequels as well as several copycats, as was the case back then. "Valentine" is the latest. Hey, remember that kid that everyone was mean to and ignored back in school? Yeah, we all know the type. Anyway, in this film, we are introduced to a group of young, buxom women who also knew the type. They consist of Paige (Denise Richards), Kate (Marley Shelton), Dorothy (Jessica Capshaw), and Lily (Jessica ...  Read the complete review
