note: also appears in part on Flixster and The Student Room Aside from the animated films released by the brilliant Pixar and still pretty good Dreamworks, there aren't many other high-profile releases, and one such instance, wherein it had a tiny indie release before quickly fading into obscurity, was Valiant, a strange animated film that tries hard with a noble idea but sadly takes a very routine trajectory and mostly squanders the talents of its solid voice cast. Valiant review Valiant is a CGI animated comedy film by Vanguard Animation and produced by the people who bought us shrek 1, 2&3 and is no surprise to say the effects are out standing especially with the fast pace of the film. Set in 1944, Valiant is a film about homing pigeons during World War Two. Valiant (voiced by Ewan McGregor) is a woodland pigeon who wants to become a hero someday after seeing pigeons recruiting for the Royal Homing Pigeon Service. He sets out for London and meets a smelly but friendly pigeon named Bugsy (voiced by Ricky Gervais) who comes along with him to training where they meet the rest of their team, named Squad F. Even though their training is yet to be finished Squad F are sent to France to retrieve an important message whilst avoiding the German falcons.
