Advantages: Tom Cruise is great in this

Disadvantages: left me wanting to know more

What a great film!

I had a basic knowledge of that period in history but this was not important for understanding the film. Nor is a love for Tom Cruise (which I do not have!).

I think you will like this film if you like historical films and those that focus on the actions of one person or a small group, following their movements and actions closely. This was an excellent account of a relatively short period of time towards the end of the Second World War. Although it is based in Germany and follows a group of German government and military officials it is all filmed in English which makes it an easier watch.

I was impressed with the casting, although some of the accents were a little off. I found myself drawn into the story from the start and the character development was well thought out.

It is not a blood and guts war movie, nor is it a pure biography. It is a good mix in the middle which covers what happened with a focus on those involved. It wasn't overly opinionated and really leaves you with the sense of what if this had worked!

Summary: This is a great film that is easy to watch
