Well what can i say about this anime, i am generally pretty generous when it comes to anime reviews and dont normally criticize too harshly, but this one is just an abomination and would actually turn peoples interest off anime rather than promoting it. The DVD lasts for around 120 minutes long with English subtitle and dubbed track, it also contains manga anime previews and collections. This anime was originally released in 1985 and i do not think it has aged well. The film is based on a long series of novels written by Hideyuji Kikuchi who is better known now for his more recent successes which such as a wind of Amnesia, Wicked City and Dark side ... I'd heard good thing about this movie, and rented it with moderate to high expectations. It has a fair number of fans, and looked like a potentially good gothic horror flick. However, it's positive reputation did little to alleviate the tedium of actually watching it. Vampire Hunter D shouldn't really be referred to as a horror title. Well you got an evil vampire lord called "Magnus Lee"... he's terrorising a town, and a certain young girl in particular...typical anime so far. Now you have a vampire hunter named D. who can talk to his hand, and wield a sword pretty well. The story is not even worth going into - its very predictable - a mini quest concurs, and D eventually kills Magnus. The only amount of surprise you get is wondernig what the hell D stands for.. well, think about it - what Big D is a famous vampire??? Get the answer correct and you got the identity of D's dad! Anyway, the artwork is by no means brilliant, although the character designs were ... Read the complete review

When a small village is terrorised by a powerful vampire lord Magnus Lee, and young demon hunter Doris is bitten the nefarious count, she turns to looking for a vampire hunter to help. Convinently, D, a mysterious but powerful vampire hunter, rides into town on his horse. He agrees to go up against the count and face off against the army of mutants and monsters whom follow the Count, who is obseesed with taking Doris as his bride... Produced as a feature length OAV in 1985, Vampire Hunter D has dated badly. The animation is bland and the music is non-descript. The character designs, by Yoshitaka Amano (who is producing designs for Final Fantasy 9) no ... Read the complete review
