... As compensation. Let me explain. This cost me 18p (and mucho shoe leather) to see, and I felt like I was robbed. It is a completely dumb movie, and not in a good Farrelly Brothers way either. Some chap who can't act (just witness his eyes in the scene where he talks to the girl beside the ice hockey rink - anyone who can't even look in the same direction each take shouldn't be in front of a camera) plays a character who has been at college for 7 years now, each year narrowly avoiding graduation in order to stay on and escape the real world, where he might just be unpopular, poor, thirsty, etc. We have to be told this, because this is ... Right, now I've got your attention, have a read of this. Seen American Pie? If you have and you liked it, you'll LOVE this movie. It's got Tara Reid (who starred in American Pie) as Gwen, the smart and sensible journalist of Coolidge College paper. She had been told to get the story that everyone else has and tried, and failed. A head-liner on Van Wilder, the idol of Coolidge (Ryan Reynolds - Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place) and he's refusing to be interviewed unless it's a date. Van Wilder is THE most popular guy. Not because he's a quarterback, not because he's big, dumb, and good-looking, he's popular because ... Read the complete review

This is possibly the best comedy I?ve seen all year?.. Okay, okay, so there was Austin Powers 3 the undisputed champion of the box office this year. But some times you need a little bit more than the ?swinging sixties meets James Bond? style action hero and some thing that?s not quite so complicated. I?ve you get what I?m babbling on about then you?ll love Van Wilder Party Liaison. Background Van Wilder isn?t your average American college student. No, no, no my friends in fact there is nothing further from the truth. Van does attend college and has done now for the past 6 years! Now as the term enters his 7th year his rich dad, in order to make cut ... Read the complete review

I expected to hate this & was surprised to find it was very funny. Very well made & some excellent set pieces. It's the story of a slacker, a loser and and underachiever who just can't get on in school. The rather disgusting but very funny scene of the rich kids eating the dog cum cakes. The fact that the rich boyfriend couldn't have sex for longer than 10 seconds. The film is generally a large amount of National Lampoons Animal House and some good character. Van Wilder is excellently played, not too hard & not too far. All the main actors work very hard especially Van's 2 room mates who develop very well during the course of the movie. It's nice ... Have you seen Two guys and a girl? Do you like the character of Berg? If your answer is no, don't bother with Van Wilder. However if your answer is yes then it might be worth a go, if you're standing outside the cinema and there's nothing else on. It's a vehicle for Ryan Renyolds (him of 'Two guys and a Girl' fame) and nothing more. It's the only gross-out comedy that did actually make me feel physically ill and it's particullary unpleasant about women, in the continuing theme of these films. But Mr renyolds saves what is an otherwise irredeemable frat house film, in the national lampooon traditional mold, and ... Read the complete review
