Advantages: Easy to Follow, Funny and Cheap

Disadvantages: Bit Crude in Places

I actually got this DVD after reading a few reviews raving about it on here. I thought it looked like a good comedy, so when Amazon sold it for just a few quid in one of their big warehouse clearance sales, I got a copy. The RRP is £15.99 but Amazon still have it quite heavily reduced at £4.88. I think it's worth that price if you like this kind of film.

Van Wilder: Party Liaison is all about a student called Van Wilder who really should have graduated from college several years earlier. His busy Dad is shocked to realise just how long Van's been at college for when he gets a phone call, and tells Van that he's not willing to fund his carefree lifestyle anymore.

Van's determined not to let it bring his college party life to an end though, so he sets about setting himself up as an onsite party co-ordinator of sorts, to raise enough money to continue to pay his tuition fees. He's joined by a few unusual characters to help him out along the way.

I really did think this film was very funny. It's not trying to be anything particularly new or different, and I agree with the people who say it's a bit like American Pie (which I also like!). The story has plenty of little twists and turns in it to make it interesting, and the whole cast works well together with great performances across the board.

What I really liked about this film was the constant, obvious humour they used. This isn't a film you watch because you want to be stimulated, it's a film you watched when you're tired and just want to be made to laugh. A few of the gags are a bit on the crude side, but then it is rated a 15 certificate and not intended for family viewing.

What's more, because I watched this film with my brain switched off, I can't even remember half of it. Does that make it a good buy? Well yes actually, because it means I can watch it again in six months and not know what every little plot twist and turn is going to result in! I do remember laughing right the way through though, so I have to give it five stars for being such great, easy going viewing.

Summary: Highly Recommended
