As the Yakuza pursue them, it becomes clear that the Forest of Ressurection is more than a name, and it also happens to be where this particular group of Yakuza bury their victims. It isn't long before the place is overrun with zombies, some of which are gun toting, and Prisoner and the Yakuza get into many a scrap with each other and the undead. It isn't long before the Yakuza's boss villain (Hideo Sakaki) arrives, and proves to be more than mortal, as...more

When an Asian movie recieves a lot of hype, it's now become something that I don't get excited about at all. While I wouldn't go as far as saying any of the movies that have recieved a lot of hype here have been bad, they certainly haven't been the life changing experiences they were made out to be, presumably just because it's cool to like foreign movies now. So when I head about this movie 'Versus', that was supposed to be violent,rapid-paced and cool as all hell, I was more than a little scepticle. I had come out of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Ringu and Battle Royale more than a little disapointed, so I didn't rush out and buy the first copy of Versus I saw, I ...  Read the complete review

OK I'll start from the beginning for you Versus newbies... In Japan lies the 444th portal to the "other side". And it so happens that a bunch of Yakuza and escapees are there when the scary dude (Hideo Sakaki ;-) wants them there. Prisoner ksc2-303 (Tak Sakaguchi ;-) doesn't know why he is there but he soon finds out the He and the kidnapped girl (Chieko Misaka ;-) are to be slaughted like everyone else ;-) to open the portal. So the good guy wins and the Yakuza all die boo-whoo! But the fights kick butt. Speaking of butt, in the flash back he gets from an injury (I can't give anything away)He is back with the same girl with the same guy after him And Tak ...  Read the complete review

VERSUS Supposedly there are 666 portals that connect this world to the other side. In Japan lies the 444th portal, the Forest of Resurrection. Following a rendezvous between a pair of recently escaped convicts and the heavily armed Yakuza sent to meet them on the forest road, an argument ensues over a kidnapped girl (Chieko Misaka) which ends in a Mexican stand-off and one of the gangsters shot dead. The stand-off is cut short though, when the still twitching corpse of the dead man gets back to his feet and begins to attack another of his former colleagues. With the zombie shot down in a hail of bullets, the remainder of the gangster's begin to pursue Prisoner ...  Read the complete review
