From the massive advertising campaign I was desperate to see this movie. However, the majority of the reviews I read were highly critical of the film. Some to the point that it was unwatchable. Adam Smith from Empire Online went as far as finishing his review with the line “An utter embarrassment to all concerned.” Not a good sign! There were always going to be comparisons with “Cliffhanger”. However the makers didn’t really help the cause by opening the film with a scene which is very similar to the opening scene in “Cliffhanger”. The other point worth making about the opening of the film is the breathtaking ... Read the complete review

This movie was good. The storyline was excellent, the actors played their amazing characters very well, and the movie kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time due to the on going suspense the plot provided. The story is about a brother and a sister Peter Garrett, played by Chris O'Donnell and Annie Garrett, played by Robin Tunney, who are the children of a renowned rock climber Royce Garrett, played by Stuart Wilson. When Royce and his two children were on a rock climbing adventure they were involved in an accident that left all three of them hanging of the side of a mountain with a single rope keeping them alive. When Royce orders Peter to cut him loose ... Read the complete review

about 10 years ago, Sylvester Stallone played a part in a climbing film that changed my views on the sport. I realised the dangers and complete body strength needed for such an occupation. So when someone changes the plot slightly, adds a few new twists but keeps the setting the same, you can pretty much predict what is happening and when. Im talking, of course, about the climbing thriller "Vertical Limit". Firstly I want to set a scene remind you of cliffhanger. Starts off with the loss of a close friend with Stallone's friend's girlfriend falling 1000's of feet to her death after stallone loses his grip... Guilt eats ... Read the complete review

I have never had a problem with heights but after watching this movie I may well reconsider. I missed this at the cinema but caught it on HBO last week. Those of you who have been following my reviews will be aware that I now have a soft spot for HBO. Well, as I said, I had missed the movie first time out but had wanted to see it, as all the reviews had been positive. Boy am I glad that I didn’t have to pay money to see this drivel. Let’s get one thing out of the way before we go too far. I like action films. There, I’ve said it. What I dislike are formulaic action films. They obviously had an idea about making an action movie on a ... Read the complete review

Welcome to the world of Vertical Limit, an adrenaline pumping, risk taking adventure. A young risk taker by the name of Peter Garrett (Chris O’ Donnel) has a tendency to climb large mountains or buildings. He’s not alone though. His sister, Annie (Robin Turner) and his fellow team mates (Bill Paxton and Nicholas Lea) are also strung along for the ride. Mother nature seems to want to put an end to their days of climbing – permanently. They must risk their lives, in what will be their most perilous mission yet. The film opens with a truly gripping and breathtaking intro, which sets the pitch for the rest of the film. The film then fast-forwards ... Read the complete review
