Advantages: brilliant scenery and one-liners
Disadvantages: not the best acting
WARNING - THIS OPINION REVEALS CERTAIN DETAILS ABOUT THE PLOT OF THIS FILM. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO KNOW THEM THEN JUST RATE IT VERY USEFUL ANYWAY SINCE YOU CAN TAKE MY WORD FOR IT THAT IT IS. This was definately not my first choice when i went to the cinema since i had read a load of reviews slating it but when i saw it i discovered that it was actually a great easy-watching (if there is such a thing) film. The opening scene is gripping and really gets your attention, which the film will keep for the next two hours. When i was in the cinema and the dad fell to the ground the whole cinema went silent, except for one idiot who broke out laughing! that's the type of film this is, serious but at the same time comical. The plot features on a climbing expidition up K-2, the world's 2nd highest mountain. Well, the climb goes wrong and some of the climbers get trapped in an ice cavern. the rescue team looks a bit odd but is full of the right people to get them down. The journey to the cavern is full of excitement such as explosions and avalanches, and the two brothers come out with some amazing one-liners. "Two million sperm and YOU were the fastest?" being an excellent example. I'm not the biggest fan of Chris O'Donnell especially since he did Batman and Robin, but he is well suited to this part. He plays the brother of one of the trapped climbers, who is not very fond of climbing since his dad died in a climbing accident at the beginning of the film. The scenery in this film is amazing and the effects such as the explosions coupled with the subtle comedy make this a really enjoyable film well worth seeing, if not in the cinema then definately on video.
