Advantages: very good film
Disadvantages: not any or maybe it is too romantic
Walk the Line is a biographical film about the life and love of Johnny Cash. His early life, addiction to drugs, alcohol and love for June Carter is covered in this above average movie. Most people lead boring lives. Was Johnny Cash as bad, as troubled and as in love with June Carter as shown in the film. He credits her for saving his life and singing career.
I am not sure what to make of this film. Was Johnny Cash a drunkard, an alcoholic and overall a bad man. These are things he done in life. He was a talented singer and whereas average man probably spends most of his life in prison if he behaves like that. Johnny Cash spent time in prison but probably not as much. The film could be exaggerated to make it more interesting. I know nothing about Johnny Cash to know either way. I have heard few of his songs and they are OK. To be honest country music sounds all the same to me.
The film is authentic as it gets because of absolutely brilliant singing and acting by Joaquin Phoenix. Reese Witherspoon plays devoted June Carter. She looks lovely with darker hair as she does with blonde. She and Phoenix probably got on well on the set They have a good chemistry on the screen. It sells them as a loving couple which the Cash were when he wasn't drunk or coked up.
Country music fans will of course love this film. Fans of other music genres will appreciate the authenticity that the lead actors bring. Phoenix can sing too.
Walk in Line is a sentimental film, it celebrates a love story and a troubled life and it perhaps is not all true. Mr and Mrs Cash spent seven years on the details of this film before they passed away couple of years before the film came out. Their collaboration was a good thing or bad watch the film and decide.
Summary: country music land of love
