... giving 18 months to do the whole thing from scratch - not a lot of time at all! The shoot started in November 1994 for ten months. **five things you should know** 1. Because they did it so quickly it cost more than previous films - a lot more. The Wrong Trousers had cost £650,000 - this had a massive £1.3 million pound budget! This meant more model-makers, cameramen and animators and a less hands-on, more director type role for Nick Park. " I did animate the prison sequence with Gromit, and some other bits and...more

Premium Review Wallace & Gromit - A Close Shave (DVD): What, not even Wensleydale?!? (626 words)
by - written on 04/05/05 (Very useful, 235 readings)
Rating:

Another outing for the famous pair in this the third part of the Wallace and Gromit trilogy - and this time love is in the air too.. **the plot** Wallace and Gromit are window cleaners (no, I don't know why either) and they go to clean the windows of a wool shop in the middle of a wool shortage. Anyway, it turns out that Wendolene (who Wallace falls for) is involved in a sheep rustling scan because of her errant cyber dog which Gromit gets put in prison for. But with the help of Shaun the sheep (that's worse than one of my puns...) Gromit's innocence is proven and they nearly live happily ever after except for the fact that Wendolene hates ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Cracking bit of entertainment, Gromit (926 words)
by - written on 17/03/02 (Very useful, 330 readings)
Rating:

Ey up, Gromit, d'you want a bit of cheese? This is a cracking bit of Wensleydale... The deep and rounded vocals of Peter Sallis (pitifully wasted in the grossly overrated Last Of The Summer Wine) were made to give life to the plasticene master inventor known only by the one word - WALLACE. Like Brando, De Niro (Whoops two words), Dean and Nicholson, there's no need for a first name or a portrait of the artist as a child ... the one word conjures up the full majestic artistry and world without the need for further explanation ... when combined with the endlessly expressive eyes and mute concern of Gromit the dog, Wallace is THE NEW REALITY, a hero for ...  Read the complete review

Wallace & Gromit - A Close Shave (DVD): One Man and His Dog (667 words)
by - written on 15/03/02
Rating:

At 62 West Wallaby Street, somewhere in the north of England, lives Wallace, mild-mannered inventor, with his dog, Gromit. Wallace, if not exactly dim, is a rather clueless chap, but Gromit -- who favors books like ‘Electronics for Dogs’, and ‘Crime and Punishment’ by Fido Dogstoyevsky is the brains of the operation anyway. Wallace and Gromit are the creations of British animator Nick Park, who has turned his hapless claymation characters into figures of cult adoration, seemingly without much effort on his own part. Clever yet unassuming, simple enough for kids to enjoy but steeped in a deep, rich knowledge and love of classic film that tickles ...  Read the complete review

Shorn To Be Free (626 words)
by - written on 27/04/01
Rating:

The third of the Wallace and Gromit trilogy A Close Shave puts the dog in a right pickle when he is nicked for being a sheep rustler. Once again the music contributes a lot to the film that is full of ‘in’ sheep jokes and it opens with our canine hero sat up in bed knitting. He feels a strong vibration and outside a lone sheep escapes from a truck and runs for safety in the Wash n Go window cleaner’s shop which just happens to be Wallace’s new job. The couple go through the regular morning routine as Wallace decides that he wants porridge for breakfast, served by one of his inventions of course. As the machine fires a dollop of ...  Read the complete review
