Advantages: Good action film
Disadvantages: Morgan was a bit flat
When bored office worker Wesley Gibson finds out he is the son of an assasinated assasin, he is plunged into a whole new world of pain, humiliation and a learning curve he will never forget as he tries to follow in his unknown father's footsteps.
I loved the character of Wesley as he was not an immediate hero and was portrayed as a "normal" bloke as far as I can describe him. He is dropped into this new world and told all kind of things he never knew and he still seems a bit incredulous to it all, until the training starts and he really starts to find out what he has let himself in for.
Angelina Jolie was also good but seemed to play that tough girl stereo typical character she has slipped into. It was a bit Mrs Smith and a bit Lara Croft and a bit of all the other mad killer type women she has played. She did have a new twist in the way they do their killing in this film but it was nothing frighteningly new. Being one of the "trainers" of teh group of assasins Wesley's father belonged to, she does have a softer, more real story but I don't really know if this was true or she said it for effect in the film.
Morgan Freeman was a little flat as well for me. He seems to have splurged in the movie world for me and cropped up in so mnay films of late that I have been a bit overdosed with his freckled face. I love him as an actor but there was no real emotion in this for me.
It was a good action film, not true to life, but I didn't care. It was a bit Matrixy but that was fine too and I enjoyed the whole performance rather than individual parts of it.
Summary: RECOMMENDED xx
