Advantages: Looopez, Need another half to watch with, much nicer if you do
Disadvantages: Predicable
No, I'm still not a film critic. But... cor blimey guvnor! From the feedback I had from the last film review I had, I thought I'd try another. The one before that one got critiqued a bit, so I ventured into the last one oh so carefully. The Wedding Planner. Yes it's another Jennifer Lopez film that I saw don't know when. I think it was in the cinemas, but can't be 100% sure. All I remember was being able to admire her in her role in this film, both for her beauty and prowess in this film. Ahem, anyway... the film. The Story --------- Mary Fiore (Lopez) is the Wedding Planner. Her role is to make happy couple's weddings perfect. She's one of the best, if not the best in the business. In fact, she is perfect herself, as she pays attention to every single detail, both in herself and in her home. The film opens with her doing what she does best. Armed with an in-the-ear radio set she communicates everything to the team wanting to make the wedding prefect. This is even down to perking up nervous brides and fathers of the bride (FoB). Although I saw her as someone I'd like to hire for mine, one can't help wondering if a good wedding planner is expensive. Roll on jobs. Speaking of which, I got an interview call today. Eek! On Mary's travels she gets her lovely Gucci shoe stuck in an open grate in the middle of the road. csaldanha would have killed for the shoes, but then I reminded her that they were Gucci. Gucci = designer = pricey. Whilst her shoe is stuck, a taxi knocks a garbage bin from its perched place and lets it roll down the hill. Predictably, right towards Mary. Mary is more concerened with her shoe than to what's about to happen. Luckily, and predictably, she gets rescued by Dr Steve Edison (Matthew McConaughey). Steve and Mary have a good time together and you can see the potential for these two to get together. Mary's always planned the weddings, never been in them. Th
ese two get close, real close, but then there's a problem (again, predictably). Steve is engaged and Mary is supposed to be planning his wedding. Eek! Recipe for disaster. Complications arise in the film as Mary's father has virtually plushed Massimo towards Mary. Massimo is a guy she knew as a child, but not one that she's had any attraction for. After all, he ate mud. Mary's dad is keen, but Mary isn't. Dilema. What will Mary choose to do? And why? I'll leave you to find out. The Film -------- The film is reasonably predicatable, but a nice kind of soppy story to watch one fine evening with your other half. It's not terrifically engaging, but you could get out the small box of tissues for this one. I could actually relate to the storyline as a whole here, with the external pressures of families wanting you to marry someone that they want, not what you want, but this won't apply to everyone. The film wasn't too long, but you'll find on the DVD some extra bits that do explain the story more. Why they didn't include these I don't know. They actually add to the film, and not much more in time either. There's a bit they could have added right at the end of the story, but if you haven't seen it, I won't spoil it. The acting in the film as a whole, matched the calibre of the film. It wasn't exactly a chick-flick type of a film and not exactly a based-on-true story kind of film. I can't really explain it... which is why I'm not a film critic. I enjoyed this film first time round and purchased it, to watch with csaldanha. OK, so I also bought it for another character in the film. I will probably keep it on my shelf, just to have one or two "nice" films to watch from time to time. Thanks for reading. (/me stands back and waits for hellfire.)
