If you forget McG's ridiculous name and the fact that he directed two middling Charlie's Angels films and also helped hamper the last installment of the Terminator franchise, We Are Marshall is actually a fairly well crafted drama that, like Terminator Salvation, falters because of the script more than because McG is an incompetent director. We Are Marshall is based on the 1970 plane crash that killed the overwhelming majority of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team.
