Advantages: Hilarious comedy

Disadvantages: Nothing really

Wedding Crashers is a very funny and novel comedy from a couple of the group known as the Frat Pack, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughan. It's like watching two teenagers in adults' bodies without them actually being capable of an ounce of seriousness for more than a few seconds at a time.

The title says it all: the pair of them regularly scope out what weddinga are on, and they crash them. They have their own set of rules to not get caught out, and then they create backstories for the characters they pretend to be at each wedding. This works fine until one final wedding, where they both end up falling in love.

Cue Rachel McAdams and Isla Fisher, the objects of our leads' affections. Thus ensues a typical romcom style of plot, but with Vaughan and Wilson's immature comedy that has perfect timing. Their delivery works brilliantly, and mainly because of their completely serious facial expressions which they maintain throughout. It's the ability to look and sound completely sincere, and yet you know that the whole way through it's all for show, that they are a pair of shallow wedding crashers and that's all there is to it.

The acting is good all round, with Jane Seymour and Christopher Walken also showing they can mix it with the deadpan comedy. The direction seems to almost leave the cast to do their own thing, which is probably the best move, it being something relying completely on the comedy being laid out in a fast talking way. You almost get the feeling that Vaughan and Wilson were allowed to ad lib their way through most of it.

It's rare that films make me laugh out loud quite a lot. This one did, and I thought it was great the first time I watched it. It's on again at the moment, and I'm finding myself laughing once more! The subtleties and the situational comedy really make it, and the whole thing is well constructed. On a particular note, Isla Fisher plays a fruit loop really well!

The film is available from amazon.co.uk for under £2 at the moment. It's a great film, well worth a watch, and one I'd be happy to watch again. Recommended.

Summary: Wilson and Vaughan crash weddings for fun
