I'll start off by saying in no way would I call myself a "fan" of RomComs, I find them irritating and rarely laugh at them. This one I thought would be another one of those films which reminds me why I hate RomComs however I was pleasantly surprised with this one. It was one of those "can't be bothered to find the remote" films that you end up watching.
It in no way steers away from the conventions of a Romantic Comedy but I couldn't help find this movie a lot better than the others. It's a film about a guy and a girl who are both wanting to just let their hair down in Vegas however a drunken night ends up in them getting married and quickly seeking a divorce, suddenly the male (Ashton Kutcher) ends up winning a lot of money on the slots, both feel that they put the coin in to the machine so it's theres.
The court then decides that they should prove they can be a couple, the film then follows them trying to get the other one to break first resulting in them getting all the money. The film doesn't offer a lot if you are looking for a brain teaser but is a very easy going film that can be enjoyed by everyone
- Story -
Jack and Joy are both from New York, although they don't know each other but they happen to bump into each other when they check into a hotel in Las Vegas. Jack persuades Joy to go with him after hiring a limo and they hit the various night clubs and casinos for a long night out, trying to drink away the thoughts of their both depressing circumstances. The following morning, it turns out that they got married overnight and they discuss what to do over breakfast, when suddenly Jack wins the $3 million jackpot and Joy points out that she's entitled to some of the money because they were legally married at the time he won the money. They take the matter to court but the judge decides to insist that they stay together work on the marriage for six months while attending marriage counselling and if they don't, the money will be forever tied up in litigation so neither could get their hands on any of it. Thus, the two of them have to get on living together and appearing as a loving married couple for six months when in reality, their not very keen on each other!. Will they manage to stay together for six months? will either of them get their hands on the £3 million or not? you'll have to watch the movie to find out.
- Thoughts & Opinions -
This movie is pretty much what you see on the box (or cover, so to speak), it features Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz as a 'couple' that are forced to stay together and put up with each other in order to get the $3 million. The movie features more comedy than romance for the majority of the movie, although the ending is a bit annoyingly preachy and not so funny, which made it a bit of a let down for me and almost makes you wonder who their accommodating for? certainly some elements of the movie will appeal to men, the toilet humour and so on and others perhaps more to women, though I don't like to be seen as generalising too much and I don't want to go into specifics incase it spoils the movie for anyone.
The story has some similarities to The Hangover, only this is lower key but the gags are still pretty low-brow, with some crude-ish jokes/innuendo and so on included, you've been warned - although this is a film with a 12 rating not a 15 rating like The Hangover and I wouldn't say its quite as outrageous storywise as The Hangover, though its another comedy which you could argue has a hint of a semi-serious moral to it (dont party too hard and drink too much or you never know what might happen and going all out in Vegas can lead to some unlikely situations!) - I guess with binge drinking becoming more of a problem in society, it makes sense for more such films to be made - no doubt such things could and probably do happen in Vegas - you've been warned! though if I had the chance to get some of $3 million, I might not be so upset but I don't know how well I'd get on living with Jack lol . Speaking of The Hangover, I should mention that Zach Galifianakis appears in this movie, he is, of course, mainly known for playing Alan Garner, one of the main characters in The Hangover (btw I hear there's a 'The Hangover II' in production), in this movie he plays the character 'Dave the bear' - not a main character but one of Jacks friends, I think, who shows his surprise and jealousy to Jack for him landing who he sees as a right good catch (aka Joy), put it that way.
Kutcher and Diaz give pretty decent performances I suppose, there's not much to be said really, it is what it is, a rather light hearted comedy with a few surprise laughs (ie gags that I wasn't really expecting and that were funnier than others). Male viewers will likely enjoy watching Diaz in terms of eye candy, there are one or two shots of her scantily clad (wearing a bikini or underwear I think) and equally for female viewers, Kutcher is on good form and there's the odd scene of him topless, which im sure some people will appreciate(!). Its all a bit predictable, Diaz as Joy, the ratherly more ambitious woman who is determined to get the money and not let Jack win and Kutcher as Jack, the markedly less ambitious guy who finds it difficult to think of the answer when their marriage therapist/counsellor (who, by the way, is played by Queen Latifah - her role is pretty short lived but I quite like her in the comic roles she plays and I kind of liked this character too) asks what his hobbies are, there's the obvious comedy around the two of them having to make concessions for each other as they settle in to life living in Jacks apartment, Joy having to deal with being in a mans apartment, one that isn't as hygenic as she would like (what with him being a lazy guy), you get the picture and then there are the situations that you know will lead to comedy - you can pretty much guess the majority of the story if you bother to but thats not to say that the movie isn't enjoyable or entertaining, it is. This may seem a bit confusing but basically its a comedy movie that does have its laughs, it has its limitations for sure but is it funny and watchable all the same? yes - for what it is, its quite amusing in parts, overall as a movie its alright, indeed I think some people will enjoy this more than others, it depends on what you expect, what kind of movies you like etc.
- Would I Recommend It? -
Read the last paragraph above. I think this movie will appeal more to some than others, if rather basic/predictable storylines or 'chick flicks' irk you at all, then I'd recommend that you steer clear of this title but otherwise I can say that I thought this movie was pretty entertaining, its certainly watchable, though its not very memorable, I wouldn't want to see it again but it passed the time ok. I felt that the ending was a bit of a let down, although others might disagree, it just depends on whether you like this kind of movie or not. Overall its not a great movie, nor is it an awful one, its decent enough with the odd extra funny line/scene but it definitely doesn't cover any new ground and the ending, like I've said, was a bit of a let down to me personally. Judge by what I've said whether you'd enjoy it, I hope my review has helped you decide. Thanks for reading my review and for all rates and comments, this review was originally posted at Ciao UK ..
What Happens in Vegas is a typical romantic comedy; boy and girl meet. Boy and girl hate each other. Through a series of comical events boy and girl realise they are perfect for each other. Happy Ending. Yet this film delivers something more. Yes, it's typical, but it's very funny. Ashton Kutcher is at his best (playing himself i grant you, but a topless himself so its okay) and Cameron Diaz is as stunning as ever (even if she straightens her hair with curling tongs).
They work very well together, playing off each other very well and with fine support acts in the 'best friend' role. It's laugh out loud funny and yet the characters are more than just 2D. You see this in flashes; when Kutcher's character asks Diaz's not to reveal their sham marriage to his parents, and she respectfully obliges.
What Happens in Vegas is a heartwarming film as well, it delivers the morals through Queen Latifah as a relationship therapist and has the romantic chemistry from Diaz and Kutcher. My friends call it 'Quoteable' and that is true. There are lots of stand alone funny moments and sayings that stay with you and make you giggle again and again.
If you're looking for a film that leaves you in no doubt of a happy ending, this is it. It's funny, loving and has something different that makes it stand out from all the other rom coms littering Hollywood.
What happens in vagas
This is a romantic comedy starring the beautiful Cameron Diaz and the boyish Ashton Kutcher. Stockbroker Joy (Diaz) gets dumped by her fiancé at a surprise party attended by all her closest friends. Carpenter Jack (Kutcher) gets fired by his dad. Both head to Vegas with their friends, a bartender and a lawyer. They are all accidentally booked into the same room and as a result Joy demands to be given the best rooms in the hotel. Jack then gets them VIP tickets into the hottest clubs in Vegas as further compensation. They drink too much, do stupid things and regret it in the morning.
In the morning Joy finds a ring on her left hand and then sees the note that says 'morning wifey' written by a drunk Jack. She is distraught that she did something so stupid and Jack can't believe that he got married. Neither are not happy with their situation and want a quick divorce. They win $3million and in order to get the money the Judge rules that they must both work on their marriage otherwise they will not get the money. They are ordered to take counselling sessions and Joy has to move in with Jack.
There were some funny parts to the film like when they tried to get each other to be unfaithful so as to get a quick divorce and all of the money. Their trips to the therapist were funny. I would say that some of the humour was a bit cheap, sleazy and cheesy. There weren't any laugh out loud moments really.
The characters of Joy and Jack were well developed. Joy is the control freak that is very rigid and she is looking for a long term partner whereas Jack is a free spirit who does not understand why people would want to be in a relationship. They are opposites but they do have some things in common. There wasn't much chemistry between the leads as I felt that Diaz's charecter was very much more mature and sensible whereas Kutcher's charecter seemed to be like a student with no care in the world. I think that the charecters grew and changed at the right speed as sometimes the charecters go from one extreme to the other within 5 minutes.
Overall this is a fun film but don't expect to be enlightened or suprised as this is a typical chick flick. This is most likley to be better appreciated by the ladies than the guys.
As we wanted a film to watch last night, we headed up to Sainsbury's to pick something from there cheap DVD's. We ended up with this film, What Happens in Vegas.
Based in New York it features Cameron Diaz (Joy) as a "boring" stock exchange trader who gets dumped by her boyfriend and Ashton Kutcher (Jack) as a "slacker" who can never seem to see anything to the finish. Separately they both decide to go to Las Vegas with their friends to get away from everything, but after a mix up in the hotel they end up going for a drink together. One drink turns into many, and Jack ends up winning $3 million on a slot machine which starts a huge row between Jack and Joy. The rest of the film shows the ensuing rows, quarrels between the two over money and other things.
As a rom-com, I didn't have the highest expectations of this film as from the many I have seen, they can tend to be quite predictable. This film was predictable, however the scenario was different to others I've seen and how the romance "builds" was quite funny. From start to finish, I don't think I drifted away from the film or found any part dull enough to turn it off. This for me makes it a good film as usually if the first 20 minutes are boring then I won't watch the rest. The acting in this film was what I would of expected by the two actors. There wasn't anything spectacular but it was overall pretty average. Jack was supported by Rob Corddry (Hater) who provided many jokes and a good comedic backup to the main star. You see how the goes from hating Joy to liking her at the end of the film.
Overall, this is a good film and as it only cost me £4 on DVD I'm glad with the cost to film quality that we got. I wouldn't pay any more for the film as it isn't exceptional, however if you are looking for a good rom-com with good jokes and average acting then it is worth a watch. I would recommend it to friends and would probably watch it again. Overall, I would give it 3/5 as it is a good film if you want something easy to watch but it is nothing exceptional.

What Happens In Vegas stars Ashton Kutcher as Jack and Cameron Diaz as Joy. Jack works for his father but ends up getting sacked and decides to go to Vegas for the weekend with his friend to get away from it all. Joy throws a surprise birthday party for her fiancee but ends up being dumped by him and so she ends up going to Vegas with her friend with the tickets that she bought her fiancee.
Jack and Joy and their friends meet when they end up in the same hotel room by accident. At first they loathe each other but by the end of the night they are married. The next morning they both realise they made a stupid mistake but suddenly Jack wins the jackpot in the Casino using Joy's coin and they both want the money. The Court orders them to make a go of their marriage or neithe of them will see the money and so Jack and Joy have to move in together. The film follows them as they try and outsmart each other in order to try and get the money but it ends up being about more than money as their relationship develops.
This is a great film and is really funny. Both Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz are great roles and are very believable and likeable characters. I think this film appeals to both men and women because it is not just an ordinary romance story and has lots of comical scenes in it. I think it is great how they try and get one over on each other and do their best to try to annoy each other.
I would definately recommend this film. It is relaxing to watch as you don't have to concentrate too hard to follow the plot and the story flows really well. There is always something happening so you will never get bored whilst watching this film.
a real vegas treat! Join the joys and fun of vegas...erm not quite. As this vegas fun is full of hate, arguments of two people who just hate each other.
Joy McNally and Jack fuller have different lifestyles, Joy has a right attitude after she throws her fiance a party, but decides to break up with her. Jack is a guy who loves a bit of goof and ends up getting his dad, who is actually his boss! The pair then go to Las Vegas to forget their problems back at home. However, they both end up winning the three million dollar jackpot and end up arguing about who earns more or who earns all of it. They end up going to court and judge puts them together! So they end up living with each other, but sadly it doesn't get any better what so ever! It.Gets.Worse. Wtch this real pure comedy and find out the truth in Las vegas which you probably thought it was all glamourous and every one would be so happy!

** My Opinion **
This is a really clever film, I loved every minute of it. I wasn't sure how believable the relationship would be between Diaz and Kutcher as they don't seem to match however they actually made a very good, realistic couple. There arguments are just like your average couples which adds even more humour to the film.
The film is interesting and engaging, its fun to watch the characters torture each other, it does remind me a lot of "Just Married" I think this is more down to the fact that Kutcher is in both films and his characters are practically identical. I think he plays this role well.
The film is jam packed with fun and is enjoyable to watch form start to finish. Its refreshing to watch a comedy which also lets other actors/actresses, who are less known have a chance to shine, and this is the case with this film. Lake Bell who plays Tipper has a dry, sarcastic style and she is quite influential in this film as is Rob Corddry.
Overall I think this is a great film suitable for both men and women for any occasion, its easy to watch and is thoroughly entertaining.
When I first heard about this movie, I didn't think it was going to be something I would enjoy. I thought it was going to be similar to movies set in the same place, but I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't. Not being much of an Ashton Kutcher fan, I wasn't expecting to like him in it and therefore possibly not liking the movie because of this reason. But I can honestly say that I really enjoyed his performance in this movie. I also think that Kutcher and Diaz, much to my surprise, made a great dysfunctional couple in the movie.
After Joy McNally (Cameron Diaz), gets dumped by her fiancé, she heads to Las Vegas to have fun and maybe to have some better luck there. While partying in Las Vegas, Joy meets Jack Fuller (Ashton Kutcher), who has just been fired by his boss and his father. The two start to have fun with each other and they both become drunk. The next morning the two wake up, married. While they both decided on getting a divorce, Jack plays a slot machine and wins 3 million dollars.
But as Joy is quick to point out it was her coin that he played with and also the fact that they are married they will have to spilt the winnings. They soon start to fight for ownership over the 3 million, which takes them to court. Seeing that the couple are fighting over the money, the judge freezes the money and orders for the couple to live together for six months. So desperate for the while 3 million, they both go to war with each other and prepare to battle to the end for chance of getting the money.
What I loved most about this movie was the friction and tension between the two characters Jack and Joy. The fights, that take place as the 'married couple' battle to win all of the money, are hilarious. This is a movie that whenever I watch it puts me in a good mood, as it is a funny light-hearted film.
This film is a extremely funny one, even despite the lack of romance which was somewhat disappointing to me. It is classified as a romantic comedy, but truth be told, to me, it was more of a comedy than a romantic one. Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz were fabulous in their respective roles, but there was a strong lack of chemistry between them. However, I really loved their performances in the film, and coupled with some hilarious instances, it did provide one of the best laughs of my life!
Joy and Jack are as different as can be. Joy is obsessive about hygiene, neatness and order, she "plans to have a plan", and is planning a surprise party for her boyfriend. The party turns to disaster, however, when he dumps her in front of all her closest friends who were hiding in the apartment and witnessed the breakup. Meanwhile, Jack, an irresponsible, fun-loving guy just got sacked from his job...and the boss was none other than his father. Both of them meet by chance in Vegas and end up drunkenly marrying each other. When they wake up, sober and horrified at what they've done, and when Jack wins a triple diamond jackpot at the fruit machine, things get dragged to court...where the judge sentences them to a six month happy couple marriage before deciding whether to freeze the money or share it equally between them. How will Joy and Jack cope?
The story follows the classic "opposite attracts" style. As mentioned above, there was a strong lack of chemistry between the two actors, and the plot made up for this. The idea of two very different people being involved in such a drama seemed like quite a romantic idea to me. But I really wished that there was more romantic chemistry. Ashton and Cameron seemed more like friends in the film- and while this is understandable due to the storyline, I was expecting to see the typical chemistry that you usually see between people who can't stand each other. This was sadly not the case in this film. However, on the other hand, I believe that both of them are extremely gifted actors with lots of screen presence. They were equally convincing in their portrayals of Jack and Joy- their body languages and facial expressions really contributed to the overall humoristic appeal of the film.
The funny bits that I loved the most were quite exaggerated, I think, but I loved them nonetheless. How comic can realistic scenes get? I think that Ashton Kutcher was perfect for such a role: His facial expressions were priceless! In fact, my favourite funny bits did include him. I genuinely cannot imagine someone else depicting Jack in this film.
Interview with Cameron and Ashton
Ashton Kutcher as Jack Fuller
Cameron Diax as Joy McNally
Rob Corddry as Hater Lewis
Lake Bell as Tipper
Dennis Miller as The Judge
Queen Latifah as Dr Twitchell
I would certainly recommend this film to those who would love a good, hilarious laugh. Just don't expect too much of the romantic side of the movie!
Thank you for reading!
What Happens in Vegas I thought was a pretty good comedy from 2008 and I have to admit I've always enjoyed watching Ashton Kutcher in alot of his movies. Despite being pretty silly the movie is funny yet predictable and has some hilarious scenes throughout.
Jack Fuller is played by Ashton Kutcher and he doesn't have a job and takes on responsibility for his life and what he does. He has nobody to answer to so doesn't care. His dad hired him as a furniture maker in his own company but had to fire him as he was useless.
Then we meet Joy McNally played by Cameron Diaz whose relationship is about to end pretty soon. The rich guy she is dating is about to dump her and she feels inadequate for him in many ways.
Both of these people are very different but both have experienced this loss with one being fired and one being left by their partners. So they both decide with their respective best friends to Las Vegas for the weekend. It is a great way to escape for a while from their daily lives. When the two sets of friends arrive they find the hotel has made a mistake and they are in the same suite. They rectify the situation and then find themselves spending a very drunken night together. They drink so much they remember nothing of the night before and Jack and Joy wake to find they are married. As they argue at one of the slot machines in the casino. Joy has aleady put enough in the machine and as she leaves Jack finds one of the quarters on the floor and wins the three million jackpot.
And so they petition for a divorce but the judge rules they live together and give their marriage a go for one year and then they can split the money if they still want a divorce. Will one of them crack before a year and forfeit their share of three million? The stage is now set for a very funny and hilarious ride. Will they be able to live together and find they have more in common than they thought or will they drive each other crazy?
Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher are perfect in their roles and work so well together they are extremely believable. They form a strong bond whether arugueing or not. This is a great romantic comedy and while not that original and also predictable it is still a great laugh.
I had wanted to see this for some time but never got round to it, therefore when my DVD rental company sent it to me I was quite pleased hoewever its been sat on the side for 2 weeks and I only got round to watching it this morning!
The film begins by introducing us to Joy, she is in her 30's has a good job, stable boyfriend and seems to be very happy. Today is her boyfriends birthday so she decides to throw him a party with all his closest friends. We are then introduced to Jack who appears to like casual sex and when his partner worries him by suggesting she has a key to his place we really learn that he is scared of committment.
So, Joy makes all of her boyfriends friends hide ready to surprise him and she meets him at the door, he says he has something to tell her and despite telling him it can wait he tells her that its not working and he wants to end their relationship. Understandably, Joy is devestated and to make it worse all of their friends have just witnessed their break up.
Joy decides to drown her sorrows with her friend Tipper. At the same time, Jack is also in the pub with his friend Hater. They both end up deciding to visit Vegas (seperately - they have not met each other yet). So arriving in Vegas they both look happy, the hotel looks nice and they have a nice suite. However, they have been double booked in the room with one another and the holiday is not what either of them expected!
I was first attracted to this film as I thought it would be an easy to watch, funny film. I was right and the film did not require much concentration which is always positive in my opinion because I often like to watch films while doing something else at the same time!
The film was very funny and there were a number of laugh out loud moments. Both Cameron Diaz as Joy and Ashton Kutcher as Jack are hilarious and they really make the characters their own. Joy, although I didnt really like her to begin with really grew on me and I began to understand her and feel her emotions. Jack was absolutely hilarious, being a typical bloke which was very amusing to watch!
The plot flowed well and you couldnt tell what was going to happen after seeing the first 20 minutes of the film. I really liked the idea of the film as it was quite different to anything I had seen before. The plot flowed well and the comedy meant there was never a dull moment. The ending was predictable but it was done very well and wrapped everything up nicely.
I really enjoyed the film, would watch it again and would recommend it to a friend.
The film was released in 2008
It was directed by Tom Vaughan
It stars Cameron Diaz, Ashton Kutcher, Lake Bell and Rob Corddry
It lasts 99 minutes and is rated a 12A
I really enjoyed this film as it was easy going, funny and interesting. It was different to anything I had seen before and my attention was kept throughout. Recommended.
I have recently bought a load of DVDs as they were reduced on play.com and usually this then means me purchasing a load of films either myself or my husband have been wanting to see for a while because I can now justify the price! I ended up buying 5 all together one of which was this one.
The film follows two people who both have decided to escape to Vegas following events in their life that have made them feel down. One is Jack, who, after being fired from his job at his dad's company decided to head off to Vegas with his friend to have some fun. The other is Joy, who, is feeling in need of some fun after being dumped by her fiancé and decides to go to Vegas with her friend with the tickets she had originally bought as a birthday gift for her fiancé. After being mistakenly being given the same room the four of them end up spending one crazy evening drinking, dancing, gambling and generally having fun! However, the next morning Joy wakes up to see a ring on her finger and a note form Jack to 'Wifey' - the worst has happened and they have only gone and gotten hitched! Things then get more heated when during a argument about what they will do, Jack wins 3 million dollars on a fruit machine using Joy's quarter! Trying to get an annulment or divorce whilst also splitting the money will now not be as simple as they thought when a judge rules they must try and make the marriage work. The rules state they must live together and attend counselling for a period of 6 months!
The film then follows them for the 6 months as they try to catch each other out in a cunning plan to allow one of them to get all the money!
I don't think there are many films I have watched that either Cameron Diaz or Ashton Kutcher are in that I haven't enjoyed. So I was quite happy to have them as the lead characters in this film and I do believe they did a very good job. Ashton Kutcher always plays the part of the easygoing lad so well that he fits very easily into this role and it worked well for the part. Cameron Diaz can always do the beautiful and easy to like women so together they were really quite the perfect pair! I quite liked how Cameron Diaz played the women who had been hurt and came across as a more down to earth type person just like the rest of us.
There is an appearance by Queen Latifah (as there seems to be in so many films nowadays!) although her small part she played well. The two actors that played Joy's friend Tipper and Jacks friend Hater are quite funny characters in their own right and I think these were actually chosen very well as they have the right mix of complete stupidity and weirdness about them! I don't think I have seen the actors in much else before apart from a few small extra parts.
My DVD came with only one extra which are the deleted scenes - I like watching these as sometimes I wonder why they decided to cut certain bits especially when they were funny or added to the story but, I think most of these were ok to lose as none of them were anything too special!
I paid the small sum of just £2.99 for my DVD from play.com which included free delivery - of course you can purchase this from most retailers who sell DVDs such as Amazon too if you have vouchers although then of course you will need a minimum spend to get free delivery!
I really enjoyed this film I have to say - I actually kind of already expected to based on other peoples opinions of the film before I watched it as it definitely seemed like the kind of film I would enjoy but, it was better than I had anticipated which of course, made me enjoy it even more! I would highly recommend this film as it was quite funny and light hearted. Of course there are some silly elements to it as after all it is based on two people getting married in Vegas after only just meeting one the very same night but, overall it is a funny film to pass an evening if there is nothing decent to watch on the TV!
After Jack Fuller (Ashton Kutcher) gets fired from his job where his father was his boss him and his friend Hater (Rob Corddry) decide to go to Vegas in order to cheer him up. Joy McNally (Cameron Diaz) get dumped by her fiancée at his surprise party in front of all their friends, she decides to take the tickets that she bought for his birthday and take her friend Tipper (Lake Bell) to Vegas.
After arriving at their hotel they discover that the computer systems have gone down and have to wait a while to get their rooms, eventually they get to their rooms only to discover that both couples of friends have been given the same room. After sorting this problem out they also receive VIP tickets to parties so they all go out together.
Jack and Joy discover this connection whilst out drinking and really enjoy each others company, but after a good night out they wake up with a sore head and to remember that they happened to get married.
After doing a little gambling Jack wins $3 million with Joys quarter and she realizes that as they are married she in entitled to half, so she decides to fight for her right to the money. At the divorce hearing the Judge decides he has enough and takes the money away from them telling them that they can have it back after they have spent 6 months doing hard marriage!
Having to move in together in Jacks apartment they both decide to do whatever they can to sabotage the relationship and try to get the other one to give up and leave and forget about the money.
This film wasn't really very new or original the whole waking up in vegas married thing has been done so much, and the film was very predictable but then what kind of film in this genre isn't.
This film is a good watch if you want to watch something where you don't have to think whilst watching which is what I like sometimes after a hard day. The relationship between Kutcher and Diaz did seem believable and you could tell that there was a little bit of chemistry there which made this film seem a little more believable.
I loved the beginning with Jacks little bit of stuff and her dressing up with him, it told us a little bit more about his character and added some hilarity to the beginning scenes. I also loved the character that Queen Latifa played of the marriage counselor, she managed to add some normality to the movie
I've seen this movie about three times and have come to the conclusion that it holds it's own as a comedy offering a few laughs with a good cast. I'm a big fan of Cameron Diaz and can't help falling in love with her girl next door cutie image.
20 Century Fox give us this 2008 romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher, directed by Tom Vaughan. Although it was not well received by critics it went on to gross $219,375,797 worldwide compared to its $35 million dollar budget, making it a financial success.
Set in the bright lights of Vegas our two characters separately set out for a night of debauchery only to find that they've gotten married to each other. Things get really complicated when one of them wins a big Jackpot playing the other's quarter. The dispute about who the money should go to eventually goes to court and the judge decides that they should remain married for 6 months and attend counseling sessions. What follows is complete mayhem as the two try and undermine each other only to find that they are actually growing close to each other.
My Final Opinion:
Ashton and Diaz make quite a believable couple and you can't help but root for them. There are plenty of laughs in this movie and although the story line is predictable it's still an interesting concept and something we could all relate to in some way or other. Maybe not getting married but we've all got drunk and done something stupid, well I know I have. A movie not to be taken too seriously and just to be enjoyed for the romantic fun that it is.
