Advantages: Funny, good actors, likeable characters.
Disadvantages: Erm none :-D
I love Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, and so when I saw this film advertised I was really excited about it. I loved the film Just Married, which had Kutcher in alongside Brittany Murphey, and from the trailers it looked very similar.
The film is about a woman called Joy and a man called Jack they've never met but maybe fate wanted to intervene; Joy is engaged to her long term boyfriend, but when she throws a surprise birthday party for him, he calls off the wedding leaving Joy...well joyless. Jack works for his father making wooden furniture, but when his father sacks him for his lack of work, he too is left with no job, and ultimately no money.
Joy and Jack both end up in Vegas at the same time, due to their best friends talking them into a trip to cheer them up, but problems start straught away when the two men are given the same room as the two women by accident and they end up walking in on each other.
Once that is sorted, after much arguing and shouting amonst mainly JAck and Joy, they end up hanging out together that night, going on the machines and drinking...and drinking...and drinking.
The next morning Jack and Joy awake to realise they have gotten married the night before, and are both worried the other will want to stay married, and try to be nice to each other about the impending break up. But when a coin is put in a machine...winning $3,000,000 an arguement breaks out over whose the money should rightfully be, Joys because it was her coin that won, or Jacks because he was the one who put it in the machine??? But when they take it to the courts, they're told the money is to be frozen until the couple make a go of their marriage, and orders them to live together for 6 months and go to marriage counselling classes, upon the ending of the 6 months they'll either be awarded the divorce, and split the money 50/50, or they will stay together and keep the money.
So Joy and Jack move in together, and try to "make a go of it" for the sake of the money, but can they do it? Can two people who seem to hate each other so much, be able to get on together or even fall in love over 6 months...its doubtful.
The film is hillarious, and i found myself laughing out loud at the tv. It really is very very funny, as you can always expect with Kutcher. The film is of comedy genre, and is much the calibre of films like Just Married, Over her dead body, Hot Chick.
I definitely recommend this film to anyone who likes a good comedy films and who likes the other films I have mentioned. I would definitely consider buying this on DVD and it has the potential to be a film which I watch over and over again, which isn't really something I say very much about films!!!
This is a great film to watch with your boyfriend or husband, or a group of friends, or even by yourself, very easy to follow, and likeable characters. A definite hit :-)
Summary: A great film I could watch over and over.
