I have to tell you, I was told by a few different people that this movie was terrifying. I'm telling you this is the beginning of the review because I did not find it very scary at all. Michelle Pfeiffer stars as Claire Spencer. From the beginning of the film you notice that the other characters treat her very fragile, kind of like they don't want her to go over the edge. She and her 2nd husband, Norman (Harrison Ford), bring her daughter off to college. Claire is having a little trouble adjusting to her daughter being gone. When she starts to hear whispers and see a young girl in reflections, she gets very nervous. She sees a therapist who tells her to try to contact the ghost she thinks she sees. She does, and this is when the story gets a little more interesting. She starts her own investigation on the dead girl she has been seeing. Her husband finally believes her that there may be a ghost living in their house and tries to help her. I don't want to give away too much of the story, but I didn't see the outcome until just before it happened. This movie did keep you guessing and waiting to see how everything played out. "What Lies Beneath" was written by Sarah Kernochan and Clark Gregg. It was directed by Robert Zemeckis. As I said earlier, the film did keep you guessing and wondering, but I was disappointed in all the hub-ub I heard before I watched it. I expected a terrifying thriller and it ended up as a low-key suspense. I would recommend it just so you can see how the events in the movie change as the film goes on. It was interesting trying to figure this story out.
