Advantages: its a film i have not idea what you require, to laugh
Disadvantages: its a film i have not idea what you require, you may have to laugh/ spend money/ visit cinema/ rent video
I saw what women want with my parents when it was in the cinema (in the UK). I'm a bloke, so thought before watching it that perhapse it would give me an idea of what women really do want, because it is something that I have no understanding of. During the course of the film, Nick Marshall (Mel Gibson) & Darcy Mcguire (Helen Hunt) kinda do the very obvious, they are both gona get it on, but only when the film gets boring thing, so they throw in old relationships of Nicks, to keep it interesting along the way. About the only thing that I really did learn from this film, is that women feel (being generalistic from what the film dipicted) they are under stress, they have stress trying to show they are as capable as men at work, looking after thier kids (because guys are usless at doing this), and yet still having to make sure that they are well presented (attractive) - by spending more time than men do in the bathroom. I'm not trying to say that women are all the same, or they make a fuss about the little things - the above is mearly my interpretation of the film. At one of the few parts of the film that a plot emerged Nick & Darcy had to show the results of work for Nike Sports products. With a slogan of something like "No Fears, No worries, just the track" or something like it. And although purhaps I shouldnt feel that I should learn something from this film, but that was about the only thing which resembled reasoning about the title (What women want). Everything else bordered on the obvious, with Darcy explaining tha she was under pressure, and feels its very difficult to compete in a mans corporate world. What I have learned therefore is that women want a bit more respect for what they do, and more equal sex representation in the workplace. Maybe that is true, but on a day to day basis, girls facination with shoes, clothes, handbags, cuddly things, and babies, or whatever else can be called cute seem tobe very
essential to them. I can add the bit you expected in this opinion (which is true): I personally thought the film was funny, (for both sexes) and definately something that guys can take thier wife/ girlfriend to see at the cinema without getting board. I would rate it 7/10 (quite good) because the acting was brilliant, and it did live up to the standard of comedy I would expect in this sort of film.
