Advantages: Gentle comedy

Disadvantages: Soppy in places

This is a nice gentle little comedy that stars Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal in the lead roles. It is a romantic comedy in which the storyline stretches over a twelve year period and charts the friendship of two people who first encountered each other at University when they share a car journey together. At first they do not get on at all as Crystal character is a laid back guy with a very casual attitude to sex while Ryan character is very uptight and organised with some very perculiar mannerisms such as always having any sauce or salad dessings on the side.

After many years the two meet up again by accident in New York and gradually a friendship develops despite Harry assertion that men and women cannot be friends as the men always want to sleep with the women.

This is a nice romantic comedy, both the lead actors have a good relationship and chemistry going on while Carrie Fisher and Bruno Kirby are excellent as their two friends who meet on a blind date and reject Harry and Sally in favour of each other.

There are some nice funny moments in thsi film, everyone has probably seen the fake orgasm scene but there are other that are just as funny especially when Crystal is on one his philosophical rants.

Overall a rather harmless easy going film which is nice to watch, it is not full of laughs but there are some nice touches and it is a bit of a feel good film i not a bit soppy at times.

Summary: Nice romantic comedy.
