This is a film which I have wanted to see for such a long time but have never gotten around to it. When I saw it for a bargain price in Tesco I just had to get it much to hubby disapproval!

Sally is introduced to Harry by a college friend as she is driving to New York to try and make it as a journalist and offers to give Harry a life. The 18 hour journey is not a good one for the pair as they find they disagree on so much and the main thing is that men and women cannot be friends as sex always gets in the way. The two finally arrive in New York and say their goodbye's.

The film then moves on 5 years and the pair are reunited as they meet when Sally is saying goodbye to her boyfriend at the airport and Sally soon discovers that Harry has not changed. As the years move on again the pair have again lost contact but soon meet again and become friend, they discover that they have both just ended relationships and their friendship reunites and they start spending their time together to help each other get over their relationships.

Just how far will their friendship go and will they ever find love?

I have to say I really did enjoy this film. The storyline was excellent and very easy to follow. I found I did not need to use much brain power to follow what was happening even when the story would jump a few years into the future. The characters were excellent and I thought Billy Crystal was definitely the star of the film. He came across as such a ladies man at the beginning but soon we did learn he had another caring side and I loved how he developed throughout the film. Meg Ryan was great in her role of Sally and I loved hoe she too grew throughout the film. I think the pair worked very well together and had a great chemistry which was apparent throughout the whole film.

There were a few good supporting actors and I liked the roles of Harry and sally's best friends. I was shocked when I found out Carrie Fisher was playing the role of Marie as she looked nothing like her Star Wars role of Leia. She did a good job and I loved how deluded she was about her lover.

The film doe shave some very funny moments and for me this made for better viewing. My favourite had to be the restaurant scene when Sally is trying to explain to Harry how easy it is for a woman to fake it when they are having sex. Both me and hubby laughed out loud at this scene and thought that they must have had some fun filming it. There was a lot of spoken funny moments in the film and hubby did find these funnier than I did. They did make a lot of references to how a relationship changed after marriage and we could both relate the this!

The film was firstly set in 1977 and this was very apparent from the style of clothing the characters were wearing and then it moved to the 1980's and this too was very funny to see how the fashions and technology has moved on in such a short time. I think the films sets and costumes were all excellent and even though some of the things looked outdated now the film was still a very good watch. The music was also very good and it was mostly arranged by Harry Connick, I think it was a very appropriate soundtrack and helped make the film as good as it was.

The DVD which we have does have a few bonus features which include;-

Original Theatrical Trailer
The Making of WHMS - When Harry met Sally
Audio Commentary by Rob Reiner
Deleted Scenes
Harry Connick Music Video - 'It Had To Be You'

As I am not a fan of bonus features I have not taken to time to watch any of these so am unable to give comment on them.

The running time of this film is 1 hour and 32 minutes and I have to say that I enjoyed every single one of them. The certificate is a 15 as it does contain strong language and moderate sex references and I do agree with this rating. I managed to pick this DVD up for just £3 in Tesco which I felt to be a great price.

Overall I do recommend this film as it has it all, romance, comedy, excellent acting and a brilliant music score. Definitely one to see if you have not done so already.

Summary: Harry and Sally become the best of friends and try to find Love for each other
