Advantages: great story, good acting, not cheesy
Disadvantages: none
Two days ago was the first time I have ever seen this film, it may sound strange because probably everyone has seen this but I am quite young and atleast I finally got round to it. This is a great film because as soon as you switch it on you already become familiar with the characters and they seem so friendly and you know it's going to be a good film. Sally leaves college and after it wants to make something of her life and so where better to travel to than New York where she hopes to become a journalist. Right away you can tell that Sally sees the best in everything and is always friendly, fun and kind. Harry is also introduced when leaving Sally's friend who is his girlfriend at college to go to New York to begin his life. He doesn't really ike Sally's friend that much though. On the road trip to New York Sally and Harry seem to have a lot to say to each other right away. Harry tells Sally that men and women can't be friends because sex gets in the way but being the optimist Sally doesn't believe anything. The minutes fly by in this film because it is so good. Meg Ryan looks so young she sort of reminded me of Olivia Newton John in Grease. Billy Crustal is really good in this film, he is funny and always is usually. This is probably one of Meg Ryan's best films, I liked her character in this film right away you feel you know her. When they leave the car they don't give any contact details and all Sally can say is "Have a nice life" or something like that and they they part and well they think they won't meet again. Five years then pass and a couple are kissing passionately at the airport when all of sudden Harry walks by and then he steps back and seems to know the man kissing his partner, it is his friend Joe and they seem very happy and then sally tries to hide because she knows it's Harry and seems embarassed. Joe then introduces them and they know that they know each other.
One the plane Harry is sitting behind Sally and he then talks to her and says he knows her, the man beside Sally offers to move seats and then Harry sits next to her. They talk but then the plane lands and Sally walks ahead, Harry then catches up with her but he decides to eave her alone and again they part. Another 5 years pass and they meet again, many times they meet this film passes time quickly as in years but it's great. Sally likes Harry but doesn't like the way he sleeps with women and walks away because she thinks he is just using them. The famous fake orgasm scene in the cafe also happens, that scene can explain to any man that a woman can fake an orgasm and they could never know any difference. A great film and now I know why there has always been a fuss over it. I love romantic comedies and for the time it was made this is a fantastic film. The acting is very good and believable and this film is excellent because it is not cheesy and all for the stupid storylines and scripts it has good lines which will be remembered. This is a classic which will always go on, the film was not too predictable, I guessed the ending a little but it wasn't obvious. I might buy this on DVD because I enjoyed it that much. I think this is a definite recommendation, if you haven't seen it, go see it.
