Advantages: Good cast with a bunch of laughs.
Disadvantages: Could have done more with the premise of film
Jack (Ray Liotta): You're gonna pay a disobedience fee of $10,000, plus another $40,000 to rebuild the bar. If you don't, we're gonna break your friend's legs here.
Dudley Frank (William H Macy): Don't bring the money! I'm a computer programmer! I don't need my legs!
Jack: Fine, we'll break his hands!
Dudley Frank: Oh, dammit. Bring the money! Definitely bring the money!
"Intro and plot"
Wild Hogs is a 2007 comedy film starring Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, William H Macy and John Travolta as 4 suburban bikers who hit the open road to get away from their lives and troubles. However on their way they find themselves in a heap of trouble. Their journey is one to find freedom. They encounter some hilaroius problems on their ride.
A lot of people have said that Wild Hogs is a film that depicts the 'free fall' of John Travolta's career. However, I believe that this film definitely has some great qualities, one being that it actually is funny. If you sit through this film and listen to the jokes, they are ridiculously funny. I watched it last night and I think perhaps it has been the most I have enjoyed it so far. If you go to IMDB and read the quotes of the script on the page you will be laughing your asses off in hysterics.
John Travolta as Woody is hilarious. The man who has lost his model wife and soon to be all of his possessions, he brings a sort of flair to the film. The moments where he squints at the bikers, gets naked with his 'gay friends', cuts the gas lines of the bikes and shouts at a young kid for not raking his back garden are some of the smallest scenes of his character, yet you will laugh at every single one. Martin Lawrence as allways uses his facial expressions to attain laughter, allbeit if he is running away from a bull or being punched in the face. William H Macy is a dim witted but intelligent man. The computer programmer who bags his own shit. Afraid to talk to girls, this journey is exactly the thing he needs. Tim Allen as always seems to be the rock of the film. He always holds down near enough the same character as in Home Improvement. I actually dont see any difference between the two. However, 'The Golden Knight' still delivers many laughs to the audience.
This film is filled with jokes and gags that will make you laugh or at least giggle. The first time I watched it i liked it. It is a sentimental comedy film with a little bit of action, mostly dealt out by Ray Liotta.
It is definitely a film you can see more than once, and should not be accredited with only 1 or 2 stars. It hits 3.5/5 for me. THe storyline is simple however I think they probably could have done a lot more with it. However, this film should not be denied the quality of laughter that it brings. THe cast is great as are the characters. Throw in bikes and some hot chilli and you got a good film.
Oh, and if you are suffering from a mid-life crises yourself you might just want to watch this film to find some inspiration of what you could do.
Remember, no phones, no Gps, no watches, Just ride hard or stay home.
