Advantages: Gr8 film, funny
Disadvantages: not brilliant
I borrowed this movie from a friend and I have to say I love it. It's got a great cast, an alright storyline and some great comic moments. It was never gonna be an Oscar worthy film but it is still a nice film to watch.
Plot
The film follows four middle aged men loosing excitement in their everyday life. When Woody (Travolta) comes up with an idea of a road trip the other three decide to follow, riding their motorbikes across the country, but along the way cross paths with a tough biker gang the Del Fuegos.
The Cast
Without the exact cast that they got, I think the film would have been a blow out. John Travolta is wonderful as the leader of the pack, Martin Lawrence is great as the man that is scared of his wife, so goes on the trip to 'grow a pair'. Tim Allen is great as the dentist who is bored with his life and finally William H. Macy provides us with the laughs of the film, despite the sort of slapstick comedy there, it stills gets you laughing.
There are also some great cameos in the film like Stephen Tobolowsky, Ray Liotta, John C McGinley and Peter Fonda.
Is it any good?
The laughs are great, yes it's a very predictable film. There's a great bit where they do 'bullslapping' which is exactly as it sounds. Wack the bull and run. The soundtrack is great and yes the script may not be groundbreaking, but it's still makes you laugh.
Should I watch it?
Don't spend a fourtune on it, you should be able to buy it quite cheap or even rent it. It's a nice film to watch now and again which will give you lots of laughs.
Hoped this helped.
