... unprepared for any terrain they may encounter in remote Oregon. Okay, so a trio of overgrown kids in their 30s wandering aimlessly in the middle of nowhere, falling out of one predicament and into another, should really be funny. Indeed, at times, it does produce a slight chuckle, but this is more to do with Seth Green and Matthew Lillard being as silly as the are in other films. They are joined on the ridiculous expedition by Dax Shepard, who does't seem to have the carefree comedy abandon of the other two, and it is...more

Premium Review Without A Paddle (DVD): Leave them up the creek, I say... (502 words)
by - written on 21/11/09 (Very useful, 24 readings)
Rating:

This 2004 film was much of a nothing really. A silly plot and a silly few performances could have been a real success given the level of adventure it features here. However, there is a bit of fumbling in terms of the direction it takes, and something just doesn't quite gel for me. The film features three friends, Tom, Jerry and Dan, as they set off following a friend's funeral in search of some buried treasure. The idea is for them to do it to honour a sort of dream of theirs. As kids, the four of them wanted to search for the legendary lost treasure of D B Cooper, who hid it and went on the run. Following the rumours and the random directions and working out ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Rubbish screwball comedy (309 words)

As much as I like Seth Green, from his work on Family Guy and elsewhere, there's little excusing him here, in Without a Paddle, a dreadful 2004 comedy that once again reminds us that Matthew Lillard does nothing but play idiotic characters, causing me to wonder a few things about him. The plot begins earnestly enough, with three 28-year olds, Jerry (Matthew Lillard), Dan (Seth Green) and Tom (Dax Shepard), learning that their old buddy, Billy (Antony Starr), has been killed in an accident in Costa Rica. To commemorate him, they hang around some of their old stomping ground and reminisce, and once they enter his old tree house, they discover what appears to be ...  Read the complete review

Rating:

Without a paddle is a comedy film and was released in 2004. It is rated 12 due to one strong use of language and drug references and is 94 minutes long. Plot After one of their childhood friends dies, Jerry, Dan and Tom find a map that Billy had been working on for a major part of his life, one that is supposed to lead to $200,000 that went missing with an airplane crash back in 1971. The three friends decide to take breaks from their normal lives to follow what had been such a big part of Billy's life, it takes them on an adventure along the river, into the woods, and they come face to face with some other problems that weren't in Billy's ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Up The Creak! (415 words)

Rating:

Without A Paddle came out back in 2004. Is basically a silly little comedy starring Seth Green, Matthew Lillard and Dax Shepard. The film was directed by Steven Brill. This is a film I have seen quite a few times so I thought it was time I gave it a review, The story tells the story of three young men. They grew up as friends but have all moved on with there lives as they move into adulthood. When they found out there close friend has died they all attend his funeral. When they are all back together they start to reminisce about there friend and there lives when they were young. They find an old treasure map they had leading to D.B's treasure. So they ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Without A Paddle (DVD): Stick your paddle up your......! (271 words)

Rating:

Without a Paddle is a pretty average comedy that has a few laughs but overall it is a rather disappointing film that never really gets to shine. The plot is rather far fetched which is not necessarily a bad thing if the plot was creative however sadly it is not. The central characters are three friends, Tom played by Dax Shepard, Jerry played by Matthew Lillard and finally Dan played by Seth Green, after attending the funeral of their dear friend Billy they each re-evaluate their lives and decide to honour Billy memory by going on a hunt for some buried treasure that was lost after a plane crash. Setting off down the river the three incompetent ...  Read the complete review
