Heres a lovely little British film that manages to mix racial tension with welcome redemption around my favorite sport of cricket. It's hard to make good sports movies, let alone about cricket, and so this should be admired just for that reason alone amongst many others here. This really is a lovely piece. With heavyweight American actor Delroy Lindo on fine patois form as the father of a boisterous West Indian migrant family arriving in 60s East End London it has the stamp of cosmopolitan quality too. The films themes of bigotry, racism and forbidden love are familiar to the British sitcoms of the day and using cricket as a metaphor for this ethnic cockney ...  Read the complete review
