... life. The film opens as Zia (Patrick Fugit) commits suicide, and winds up a waystation for people who have killed themselves. Here he meets other people, but rather than be like our preconcieved ideas of Heaven or Hell, this waystation is very much like our own world, but just a lot greyer - there are no flowers, and nobody is allowed to smile. Here, he hangs out with a gang of rather strange fellow suicidal people, wasting the time in bars and at gigs. However, he is faced with other considerations as the plot progre...more

Rating: 18 Main Actors: Will Arnett, Shannyn Sossamon, Patrick Fugit Released: 2009 Genre: Comedy My husband found this DVD recently and having read about it previously, sold me on watching it one evening by saying "it is about a load of people who have killed themselves but aren't allowed to die. They are stuck inbetween earth/ living and heaven or hell in a sort of no-mans' land". This is exactly what the film is about. As one of the main actors is Patrick Fugit who I adored in Almost Famous (when he was much younger) and Shannyn Sossamon normally does decent films, I decided to give this a go. Premium Review Wristcutters - A Love Story (DVD): Bad Name, Great Film (297 words)

I can say i am quite a film buff and usually im into more independent films than the mainstream type of films, so when i saw this in HMV bargin bucket i picked it up because i liked the front cover. I then read the films title and almost put it straight back into the bin, but seeing the cast Patrick Fugit (who i liked from Almost Famous), John Fawkes (who i like as a actor) and Shannyn Sossamon (who is in my opinion in the top 5 most beutiful women in the world) i thought id buy it and give it a go. The plot sounded perculiar and at first i thought it potentially be quite a gritty film but quite quickly into it i realised this was going to be a gem of a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Strange anti-suicide film (322 words)

Rating:

note: also appears on The Student Room and Flixster The title of Wristcutters: A Love Story is going to alienate a fair share of its audience from the outset, but don't be deterred - this is a unique independent film that has a very positive message to those contemplating suicide, dealing with it in a way that is neither overly dreary nor too funny. It's a touch spotty and uneven, but mostly, this is a heartfelt and endearing film with plenty of likeable characters and pragmatic look at the meaning of life. The film opens as Zia (Patrick Fugit) commits suicide, and winds up a waystation for people who have killed themselves. Here he meets other ...  Read the complete review
