Advantages: That heal turn and lots of interviews

Disadvantages: They were never the best wrestlers

For those of you not in the know regarding American Professional Wrestling, there was once a legend in the business called Hulk Hogan. He was billed as immortal, billed as a superhero that kids could look up and billed as this larger than life character that lived only to serve the greater good. Well, that was until one faithful day in WCW when the great man decided that he was going to turn heal (bad) in one of the most shocking events in wrestling history. He wasn't just turning bad though, he was doing so to join the NWO, made up of long time serial villains Scott Hall (formerly Razor Ramon) and Kevin Nash (formerly Diesel). I will never forget watching this live at the time and will now be able to watch it all over again whenever I like. I never get tired of seeing the fans throwing all sorts of debris into the ring to show their feelings towards Hogan and his new henchmen.

What followed was dastardly act after dastardly act, but ultimately, the NWO faded away as more and more mid level wrestlers joined the faction and this then resulted in the WWE taking over WCW as fans were drawn more to Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock.

A couple of years passed and Vince McMahon, the WWE owner, decided to bring back the NWO but in its original line up of Nash, Hall and Hogan. For w while the old magic seemed to be back as feuds ensued between the three and Austin and the Rock, but sadly this initial push failed in the end and Hogan was then turned good again by having a match with The Rock at Wrestlemania and turning on Hall and Nash afterwards. This really ends the story of the NWO, but that is only part of this really cool DVD that I enjoyed so much.

On the DVD, not only do you get all the crucial action as it happened, but you also get behind the scenes footage and interviews with the stars that were around at the time and played the crucial roles that helped make and ultimately break the popular for being bad faction. These interviews were so interesting to me as a huge wrestling fan and gave an insight into how Vince reconciled with Hogan to being the man who tried to ruin him back to his company with seemingly no anger towards him. The DVD is filled with interesting little sections like this as the NWO did cause possibly more controversy in their tenure than any other group in the history of wrestling.

I would recommend this DVD to big wrestling fans only as there is not enough on there to warrant a purchase for a casual fan in my opinion.

Summary: A good look back at the NWO
