Advantages: Its all about Bret and the action
Disadvantages: None at all
Bret Hart was one of the main reasons I first got into WWE Wrestling, or WWF as it was back then. My first Wrestlemania was just 2 weeks after I started to watch it and this was headlined by Bret Hart vs Yokozuna in Las Vegas. Bret lost the match, but he left an impression on me that has never dwindled to this day, despite Bret having not wrestled for the best part of 5 years and left the WWE over a decade ago.
When I heard this DVD was being made I couldn't hide my excitement and bought it on the day of release. Having already watched Bret in his "Wrestling with Shadows" documentary, I knew what I would be getting would be a quality, warts and all, behind the scenes look at the Hitman and would dig deep into the truth behind the Survivor Series "screw job" that saw him fall out with WWE boss Vince McMahon like nobody has done before.
With these kind of "look back" DVDs you expect a certain amount of story telling and exclusive interviews with the people who lived and breathed these moments and you will not be disappointed here. I loved the reflective Bret that came out midway through the DVD and this surprised me as he is usually still so bitter about his WWE departure. He is, in my mind, a true WWE legend and acted like one here. Superstars like Vince McMahon, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and many more add their own input and views to the mix to create hours of compelling viewing for any Bret fan.
Added to this is the usual array of classic matches that nearly always accompany these WWE DVDs. With this you will get to relive the awesome encounters between Bret and people like Mr Perfect, Ted DiBiase, Undertaker, Diesel, Stone Cold and his late, great younger brother Owen Hart. Bret touches on his feelings towards Owen's death in this DVD and it is really moving to hear his words and regrets that he wasn't with the WWE at the time.
If you have even the slightest interest in wrestling then this enthralling recap of a great superstar is a must see. Bret and this DVD are the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be.
Summary: My favourite WWE biography DVD
