Advantages: Entertaining wrestling throughout

Disadvantages: Slightly underwhelming main event matches

WWE Judgment Day 2008 took place in May and is the 5th WWE PPV of the year following WWE Backlash and preceeding WWE One Night Stand. This year's show took place in Omaha, Nebraska in the US.

The main feuds going into this show were between Randy Orton and Triple H on the WWE Raw brand, along with the Edge and Undertaker feud on the Smackdown brand.

Lets review the card:

-- John Cena vs. John Bradshaw Layfield --
The match had a month of build-up on TV and the two guys delivered a 15 minute match on the PPV. This was a solid, hard-hitting match to open the show, although both guys gave effort - it was quite passive for the most part. 5/10

-- John Morrison & The Miz vs. CM Punk and Kane --
This was a match for the WWE Tag Team Championship. It was an impressive match, John Morrison and CM Punk are both great wrestlers and this match offered some innovative spots - and along with Kane this was always going to be entertaining. 7/10

-- Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho --
This was the match of the night. These two wrestlers gel very well together, as shown at WWE Wrestlemania 19 which was 5 years earlier. They delivered quite a similar match, although shorter around the 15 minute mark. There was a lot of submission wrestling in this match, these two never fail to impress when they're in the ring together. 8/10

-- Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Melina --
Mickie James went into this match was WWE Women's Champion. This was a quite passive women's match and was a bit too short. Beth Phoenix displayed amazing power by carrying both women above her shoulder at the same time. Good effort, but still didn't get enough time on the PPV. 6/10

-- The Undertaker vs. Edge --
This match was for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. The reason it was vacant is because Undertaker won the championship at Wrestlemania 24, retained it at Backlash the following month, then was stripped of the title afterwards by the WWE Smackdown General Manager. This match didn't offer much new from previous matches between these two, but was given a good 15 minutes and was entertaining. 7/10

-- Jeff Hardy vs. Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) --
This match was sandwiched between two WWE main event matches. This feud developed on WWE Smackdown for weeks prior to the match and this was the culminaton. Jeff Hardy showed why he is one of WWE's most entertaining wrestlers with his high flying ability. This was a solid fast paced match to build-up to the WWE Championship match. Good stuff. 7/10

-- Triple H vs. Randy Orton --
This was a steel cage match for the WWE Championship. This feud had been developing for weeks on WWE Raw after Randy Orton lost the WWE Championship to Triple H at WWE Backlash. This steel cage match would see the feud continue in what was a hard hitting match. This was an entertaining match with quite a few false finishes and near escapes of the cage. This match deservedly closes the show. 7/10

Overall, I would recommend this PPV to WWE fans. There is not a bad match on what was a stacked card. The Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho match makes this worth buying - it's a great match and this is one of the highlights of 2008.

Summary: One of the PPV highlights of 2008
