Although undeniably one of the weaker periods in the WWE's history, No Mercy 2003 is one of the better events of 2003, with some solid bouts, and the continuation of Brock Lesnar's meteoric rise to success. The show opens with a solid bout that sees Tajiri facing off against Rey Mysterio for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. As you'd expect from these two great athletes, it's a highly athletic and fast-paced bout, with a satisfying ending too, and some might view Zach Gowen being on a WWE PPV as something of a tasteless gimmick, but he gives it his all against Matt Hardy in a solid effort. WWE NO MERCY 2003 was a Smackdown only pay per view featuring seven matches. I will provide the matches, but not the results in case you choose to watch for yourself. CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP - REY MYSTERIO V TAJIRI A good fast paced opener that got the crowd excited. Some hard hitting moves mixed with some great athleticism at a relentless pace. Good opener. A TRAIN V CHRIS BENOIT A decent match with A Train dominating for most of the match. Benoit's determination meant he was able to fight back in a good match.
