Advantages: Very entertaining, action filled matches, Hardcore wrestling

Disadvantages: Might be too bloody for some

WWE One Night Stand is a recent addition to the PPV roster after its initial 2005 show which was to celebrate the legacy of Extreme Championship Wrestling. Since then it has been incorporated into the monthy line-up.

WWE One Night Stand 2008 shows why the PPV has been a success, primarily because of the 'extreme rules' gimmick (every match has a special stipulation). This is a great show and without doubt, one of the highlights of 2008.

Lets review the show:

-- Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga (Falls Count Anywhere) --
This is a surprisingly good opener, these guys are no strangers to eachother - this probably being the best match between them. The brawl even goes to the outside of the arena which you sadly don't see much of in this era. 7/10

-- The Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. John Morrison vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Tommy Dreamer (Singapore Cane match) --
As the stipulation suggests, this is pretty brutal stuff with quite a lot of creative spots. This is an enjoyable match if you are into this level of hardcore wrestling. 6/10

-- John Cena vs. JBL (First Blood) --
A rematch from the previous PPV Judgment Day, two wrestlers with a brawling style in a solid 15 minute match. 7/10

-- Beth Phoenix vs. Melina (I Quit) --
This is one of the better 'diva' matches of recent years which featured some impressive submission wrestling. 7/10

-- Batista vs. Shawn Michaels (Stretcher match) --
This is a great match. It's a good 15 minutes long and tells a great story throughout, this is the better of their two matches (first match at Backlash PPV 1 month earlier) definately. 8/10

-- Triple H vs. Randy Orton (Last Man Standing) --
This match is impressive till the point where Randy Orton injures himself accidently, breaking his collar bone outside of the ring. Very unfortunate, but a good match till that point. 7/10

-- Edge vs. Undertaker (TLC) --
This is an outstanding 20 minute match. The stipulation is that tables, ladders and chairs can be used at any point, and indeed they are. This is great stuff and includes an awesome finish to the match. 9/10

Overall, I would highly recommend this PPV. It is definately one of the most entertaining WWE PPV's this year, and is in my eyes a definite purchase.

Summary: One of the best WWE PPV's of 2008
