... as the match went all around the arena. Mankind took some genuinly nasty blows and bled badly. THE rOCK was at his cocky best and this is a classic WWF match. ROYAL RUMBLE 1999 The winner of the rumble has to be the last man standing when 29 other men have been thrown over the top rope. The winner gets a title shot at Wrestlemania. The rumble was about Stone Cold getting his hands on Mr McmAHON and they fouGht all over the place. Tripel H performed well as did Kane, Edge, Jeff Jarrett and Mark Henry. A fun rumble with...more

Premium Review WWE - Royal Rumble 1999 and 2000 (DVD): ROYAL RUMBLE 1999 and 2000 (596 words)

The first DVD is the ROYAL RUMBLE 1999 which is a great event. I will provide the matches, but not the results. BIG BOSS MAN V ROAD DOGG A struggle to watch this match as both men weren't at their best. A slug fest rather than a wrestling match. WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP - STRAP MATCH - SABLE V LUNA These wasn't wrestling just half naked women scrapping, like soft porn. EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP - X-PAC V GANGREL A decent match. Quite slow paced, but the mat wrestling was good and the pace did quicken up. INTERCONTINETAL CHAMPIONSHIP - KEN SHAMROCK V BILLY GUNN A decent match. Good wrestling and very fast paced. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review One of the best PPVs of the decade (163 words)
by - written on 28/05/09 (5 readings)

WWF Royal Rumble 99 was an good show to kick off the year with and featured a couple of must see matches. The Rock faced off with Mankind in an "I Quit" match which featured some must-see bumps from Mankind, and a good Royal Rumble match which carried on the Attitude era feud of Stone Cold Steve Austin and Vince McMahon. The rest of the card was filler but is a good watch nontheless. The Royal Rumble in 2000 is regarded as one of the best pay per views of this decade, with such great matches as Triple H and Cactus Jack in a brutal street fight, The Hardy Boyz faced off against the Dudley Boyz in a hard-hitting Tables match with some excellent table ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review WWE - Royal Rumble 1999 and 2000 (DVD): Great Tag Team (162 words)

This is a great way to pick up two excellent WWE Supercards, when WWE was at its peak in popularity. 1999 featured a riveting I quit match between super heel The Rock and Mick Foley, which contained some incredibly hard hitting chair shots which they wouldn't be allowed to get away with today, post Benoit. The Rumble itself was also a blinder, although it featured 28 men being built around 2 others - namely Vince McMahon and Steve Austin, numbers one and two. This feud was red hot at the time and this Rumble didnt dissappoint. 2000 was possibly my favourite Rumble of all time, firstly with the long awaited debut of Tazz who was given a monster response by the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Get ready to Rumble (276 words)

This was during the big Wrestling Boom period, WWF was everywhere at the time of both of these events. The Royal Rumble being the January showcase PPV from the company always features 3 or 4 matches followed by the 30 man over the top rop Royal Rumble, without dragging out and spoiling every match i'll cover the highlights and things worth watching about these two events. 1999 - The big story here was Steve Austin rebelling against the owner of the WWF Vince McMahon, Austin was number one entrant into the Rumble match and Vince number two, this was the first high profile collision between the two on PPV after over a year feuding. The story runs through the ...  Read the complete review

Being an 'adult', the world of wrestling or 'sports entertainment' has waned on me these days. It's clearly not as good as it once was. But merely a decade ago saw the great age of the "Attitude" era of the WWF, or the WWE as it's now known. Company owner Vince McMahon had released that the next step of pushing wrestling into the mainstream spotlight was to get more charismatic figures, but obscure and dramatic storylines and above all, have genuinely able athletes and wrestlers working within the squared circle. One of the crown jewels in the World Wrestling Federation/Entertainment industry is Royal Rumble, second only to Wrestlemania many would ...  Read the complete review
