Whether you are a serious or casual wrestling fan, there is not doubt in my mind that you will have heard of Shawn Michaels and indeed seen at least one of his many matches. Since competing in his first match at the tender age of 19, the Showstoppa', as one of his many affection nicknames implies, is one of those superstars who manages to defy the odds - great and small - to deliver a highly invigorating and intriguing bout. To me, when he is wrestling, it seems that nothing is out of bounds and, when he does lose, he still manages to portray the art of sports entertainment in a light which is almost realistic and well respected by critics and hardcore fans ... SHAWN MICHAELS HEARTBREAK AND TRIUMPH is a DVD focusing on one of the most entertaining wrestlers in the business. The three disc DVD contains an interview with the man himself and others in the company plus some selected matches. On disc one and two Michaels explains how he got into the wrestling business. For twenty five years, Shawn Michaels has enthralled wrestling fans the world over with his athleticism, his entertaining promos and his penchant for high drama both in and out of the ring - both in the storylines and in real life. Heartbreak And Triumph charts the first 23 years of the Heartbreak Kid's career, as well as his childhood and his often turbulent personal life. If you are already familiar with Shawn Michaels' story, having read his autobiography or just from having followed his career in WWE, then this three DVD set won't break much new ground. The stories told are all familiar to any avid Michaels follower, but what is refreshing is ... Read the complete review

This is a really moving story of the top and my favourite WWE superstar 'The Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels. Fans of the sport will know that Shawn grew up a keen wrestling fan and learned his trade very early. Without giving anything away, the DVD explores how he was signed to the WWE (then the WWF) and how he and Marty Jannety were put together to form the Rockers. The 3 hour documentary shows classic footage from HBK and features interviews with lots of people who have helped to shape his career in the business. Shawn is well known to have been a handful in and out of the ring and that is explored here, along with the reasons behing the new him ... Read the complete review

One the thing the WWE does well is documentary type film on their wrestlers. There's a set formula too it, which is consistent in all of them and it works. The film for the Heartbreak Kid is no different and is an excellent insight into the life and career of possibly the greatest performer of all time. It starts at the beginning, his childhood before moving on to his early days as a wrestler, escalating to his memorable tag team run with Marty Janetty in the now defunct AWA, before they moved onto the WWF. Its probably his singles career which is more interesting though, as the film takes us through all the ups and downs of his career and some highlights of ... Read the complete review
