Welcome to the Warriors world.....Only problem is, he ain't home. (WWE - The Self-Destruction Of The Ultimate Warrior (DVD))
Name: briangilmour
Advantages: Great nostalgic trip and interesting interviews. Disadvantages: Bit too slanderous and negativley slanted. Well first let me say that I've got a huge tilt reviewing this DVD, Not only am I huge wrestling fan but growing up my favourite wrestler was the Ultimate Warrior. However if you are a fan of the Warrior buying this DVD expecting a Celebration of his career you're in for a disappointment. Don't get me wrong this is a great DVD but to be honest it's more of a slur story than a success one. The Warrior refused to work with WWE to create a career recap, so WWE decided to make a mockery of the Ultimate one. It's starts quite innocently just showing how Warrior got his start in the wrestling business where he teamed with Steve Borden who went on to become Sting. Then when he started to gain popularity the knives and daggers started to come out. Bobby Heenan and Ted Dibiase take shots at him which to be honest could be very well true, but with no retort you can never know the truth. Also the comments from Hulk Hogan seem a little out of context, having read Hogans auto-biography he speaks fondly of Warrior as a person and to work with, and I'd tend to beleive that there are many out there who would defend Warrior too if given the chance. Anyway the documentary is a tainted recap of the Warriors career but it's still fun to watch and interesting to see what people thought of him. The Extras ain't bad, they show his best match ever against Macho Man at Wrestlemania 7 along with the match he won the WWF title against the Hulkster. It runs over 3 hours and truly never gets dull. Recommended for all wrestling fans. Summary: Worth getting to watch but not a great reflection of Warriors career. |
