Advantages: A couple of good matches.
Disadvantages: but overall pretty average.
WWE Vengeance 2004 was the fourth annual Vengeance Pay Per View event and was held on July 11th 2004 in Hartford Connecticut and was a Raw branded Pay Per View.
The Matches : ( Warning Spoilers )
Tajiri and Rhyno vs Jonathan Coachman and Garrison Cade.
This was always going to be a below par match, anything featuring an announcer / McMahon / general Non - Wrestler is guaranteed to be poor, fortunately the Coach didn't get much in-ring time, however the other participants seemed bored and could have produced a better match if they wanted to, this match screamed hastily put together. 4/10
Batista vs Chris Jericho.
I'm a huge fan of Chris Jericho, for me he's one of the very best ever and could have a good match with a Broom handle, which is fortunate as he was having a match with Dave Batista, at the time Batista was Evolution's "Animal" not exactly technically skilled, but raw power , Jericho managed to squeeze a decent match out of Batista and it was entertaining and I think if it had been allowed to go over the 12 minutes that it did it would have shown Batista's various weaknesses more ( Plus you can see him getting blown up after about 5 minutes ) 6/10.
World Tag Team Championship
La Resistance ( C ) vs Eugene and Ric Flair.
Eugene ( Nick Dinsmore's ) character was always going to have a short shelf life, but at this time he was one of the hottest characters on the Raw roster ( it was a slow period for sure ), I liked the storyline with Eugene being used by Evolution but it was always going to have a predictable conclusion, this match was decent enough, Ric Flair is obviously Ric Flair, Eugene is actually a very talented worker and I don't think we saw nearly his best during his run and both members of La Resistance can have a decent match, and as such this was entertaining, probably more so for Flair's reactions to some of Eugenes antics, however they came up short and were unable to clinch the belts 7/10
No DQ Match
Matt Hardy vs Kane.
This was one of the final matches of the fued that saw Kane "Steal" Lita who was Matt Hardy's real life girlfriend at the time ( Little did we know that there was alot more going on behind the scenes with Hardy and Lita than we saw ) Kane is certainly a solid working Big Man, however for me the two superstars didn't gel well and the match was only average but it did have a surprise conclusion at the end in my opinion and it was nice to see Kane doing the Job to Hardy.
WWE Intercontinental Championship.
Randy Orton ( C ) vs Edge.
Two very good workers performed here to give us probably the best match of the night, this it seems would be one of the last time's you would see Edge as a babyface as not long after he would turn heel and stay that way until the present day, some nice back and forth action with some good near falls and two count's, it was nice to see Edge Win the Belt for the 5th time with the spear. 8/10
WWE Womens Championship no 1 contenders match
Victoria Vs Molly Holly
Womens matches really aren't my thing and to me are just filler, however here you do have two of the more talented female workers of the last 10 years, however the match only lasted 6 minutes ( Blatant filler match ) and as such earns a low rating 3/10
World Heavyweight Championship
Chris Benoit ( C ) vs Triple H
This was going to be a strong match for sure, and I felt sure that Triple H was once again going so stomp on someone and take the belt back, but I was pleasantly surprised, of course Chris Benoit is another wrestler who could have had a great match with a Broom Handle, and although Triple H is a shadow nowadays of the performer he was in the mid - late 90's he is still a solid worker and as such this match was a good one to watch, I won't dwell on Benoit's personal life , i'll only celebrate the man's in-ring performances, a close second for match of the evening for me 8/10
Overall Vengeance was a pretty average Pay Per View, there were a couple of good matches but the event seemed long and there weren't many matches that made me want to watch it more and more. of course for the serious wrestling fan this event is a must for your collection, but its probably not one you'll go back to again and again to re-visit.
Summary: Not the WWE's best
